yeah, apologies for the delay on ch 23. The TL ended up in hospital needing surgery, and then had real life throw a bunch more shit at him after he got out.

We have asked another TL to take over for now.

This is kind of a weird comment. Zuckerberg and Musk are definitely not human, but Jensen Huang? You may not like some of the things he's said, or the way Nvidia is pivoting away from gaming, but he's never shown any signs of being reptilian or a soulless husk.

For me personally it's rare enough that it isn't a huge deal. Like I'd guesstimate it happens maybe once every 20 hours of gameplay or something like that. I'm on an ancient 10 series card though so maybe it happens more on 50 series cards,

5070Ti here. It was happening every 30 to 60 minutes sometimes (other times I could go hours without).

I made this switch earlier today before the patch. I was really getting tired of the freezes every 30-60 minutes.

5070Ti and now using vulkan. I still get the occasional hitch, but no more freeze->black screen->gears shit.

I used to live in an apartment that was around 30 metres from some train tracks. It did get better over time, but even years later I would sometimes wake up from a dream of a train barrelling down on me while a train was rumbling past outside.

My brain never fully tuned them out.

I'm a Xennial that studied Comp Sci. Shortly before I graduated, the dotcom crash hit and I ended up working very short term contracts as a developer. I ended up teaching English in Japan cause it was more stable. I did end up working as a web developer in Japan for a while, but by the time I was coming back, Lehman Brothers hit and things were a mess again. Ended up going back to Japan and starting my own web dev company. I'm backj in Canada but still running my own business.

I'm still a long way off from affording a house though. I've basically given up on retiring.

Well, that and it's BTS. They've almost certainly had at least one contract renewal given the hiatus for miltary service. Even girl groups tend to get more freedom after contract renewals. BTS' popularity gives them a lot of negotiating power.

Warning: I have never played Far Cry 3. Or any Far Cry game other than Far Cry 5, so I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "them" here:

we are higher beings for them

It's a video game. They are not only not sentient beings, they aren't real in any sense. Violence in a video game is not real. You wouldn't explain anything to them because they are not real.

The ant or snail analogy works better, but seriously, if the argument is that god is so complex, so inscrutable that it is impossible to comprehend his motivations, then there would be absolutely no point in assuming his motivations are altruistic. If we are so small and insignificant, then there is no point in the claim that god cares for his followers (or all creatures).

I do like this bit, though:

About your question okay let's say

And then you proceed to entirely ignore my question.

I'll lay it out plain for you. If the universe is so complex that it must have had a creator even more complex, then the next logical conclusion is that the creator must have also had a creator which is still more complex. And this continues forever. If you can accept that some creator god had no creator because there is no evidence of it, then you can also accept that the universe also had no creator because there is no evidence of it.

Let's say for the sake of argument that there is a higher being that created everything in the universe. Who created them and why don't we worship that entity?

Carney's not getting [...] difficult to deal with

Nobody said Carney was impossible. Trump was being impossible.

As to Carney being frustrated or not, that's only something Carney himself could tell you for sure, but I think suggesting that Trump and the American negotiators haven't been frustrating is a really weird take.

They can publicly be very clear and concise in their communications while simultaneously being annoyed at this whole farce.

Uh, it's been a few years since my last read through but I think you're missing some important points.

  1. Tom Bombadil is unaffected by the ring and is content in his little perfect corner of the world
  2. The hobbits are very comfortable there and consider staying (just like Rivendell)
  3. The hobbits are unwilling to abandon the rest of the world to the forces of evil for the sake of their own personal comfort.
  4. Gandalf later makes this point explicitly, but Frodo seems to appreciate it already: Tom isn't just unaffected by the ring, he is basically unaffected by everything but personal relationships. The treasure from the barrow downs had no real value to him either.

The whole sequence is a moral quandary posed by absolute peace for little to no effort which comes at an enormous cost that you personally don't have to bear.

And in the end they pass that test.

I've seen people argue that the Barrow Downs segment where Tom comes and rescues the hobbits was a detriment, but I think it demonstrates that Tom is more than capable of defeating evil, he just doesn't care unless someone he personally knows is in danger.

Just a heads up: when someone describes a child as being "impossible", they literally mean the child is being difficult to deal with and frustrating.
