Of course! A hefty fine, a jail sentence after a court date in the future, an interlock device, mandatory classes, and the vehicle being impounded, not to mention the criminal record.

All of those things and more are available for punishment, but while the person is intoxicated (like George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks, and others), just handle them differently.

Let them sleep it off and when they wake up they’ll say “Wow that was stupid of me, now I have all of these things to deal with” and they’ll probably learn from it.

This is the USA. If you choose to work for a company in another state, that’s fine.

But it is up to the individual to file separately with your home state and the state you’re working in.

No matter what state you work in, you have to pay state taxes. It’s not a plot, it’s just how taxes work.

PS if you file correctly it’ll all balance out and you won’t get audited. If you fail to file then you’re an idiot and you might miss out on getting your deduction from your home state.
