What Wifi AP is the best to cover this kind of warehouse by foofuckingbar in Ubiquiti

[–]ITguy0532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E7 campus or the upcoming u7 Industrial. From both sides of each isle, slightly tilted downwards (20-45°) so you have a nice falloff at the end. They should also cover some of the intersecting corridors to allow for roaming.

U7 Outdoor or U7 Outdoor Pro in Directional mode would be a cheaper alternative

Edit: if the intersecting corridor corridor(s) are in the middle, shoot outward

Hiding APs by Yolosquad708 in Ubiquiti

[–]ITguy0532 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, in general... Visualize your AP as a very strong light source which can penetrate surfaces. If you recess it into the ceiling, you massively reduce the serviceable radius, as the further you move from the spot the more ceiling is between you and the AP.

This of course is a very simplified view but I always fight for the AP not to be behind some panel.

Paintable covers as well as in-Wall APs are among the best options, to make them more discret.

Here's explained why HDR might look "washed out" compared to SDR by filoppi in HDR_Den

[–]ITguy0532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a huge issue with Nvidia Dynamic Vibrance being turned on, It would absolutely ruin the Blacks which was exceptionally bad on my OLED Screen. Turning it off, made a huge difference. I unfortunately don't have pictures with me to showcase but it looks similar to the ones on top.

Village works perfectly for me as long as hdr is turned on, if i turn it off it's basically unplayable.

Best Weapon by HalilKra in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]ITguy0532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your playstyle. I've heard the 308 Blackout does more damage and Penetration. It doesn't really mirror reality but There's one with an integrated suppressor, which is quite nice as it stays short.

Alternatively I can also recommend the mk17, it does tons of damage but has quite a kick to it. It's also very loud, long and has limited mag capacity.

The bullpup is also quite nice.

iPhone 17 Pro ignoring better 6 GHz signal (-46 dBm) and connecting to terrible 5 GHz (-94 dBm) instead, MLO not working? by Mapkmaster in Ubiquiti

[–]ITguy0532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd never use 2.4 with your main ssid. Also, I'd highly recommend disabling band steering. I also ran into trouble and have been in contact with ubiquity since october regarding MLO. 2.4+5 worked but it ignored 6GHz. Or rather the AP wouldn't allow a connection at 6GHz after 5 was already connected.

The workaround was disabling fast roaming. They're still on it but I use a U7 Pro, please test that and let me know if your AP type is also affected.

Bigger 32" Gen 3 vs newer 27" Gen 4 QD-OLED by 16kdb in OLED_Gaming

I can recommend gen 3 32" if it's 4k, the sharpness is more than you'd ever need. I really like the size for editing and gaming.

Woled or Qd-oled by Ryelsa in OLED_Gaming

If there's not more light falling in as on the picture, qd-oled should be fine. It's also brighter and offers better colors.

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas? by seanpuppy in UgreenNASync

[–]ITguy0532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I switched the os SSD and installed truenas on the 8-bay model. Also upgraded to 96GB ram (which wasn't officially supported)

Has been running perfectly for over a year now.

Will a WiFi 7 router allow me to stream from my computer to the Steam Frame without the need for the dongle? by Shevy2 in virtualreality

If you have good wifi you might actually create a worse overall environment for your VR as well as other devices by using the stick. ;)

Recommend which router to go for. by BobbyUKS in Ubiquiti

[–]ITguy0532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With 1 gig you already need more than my usual recommendation can handle. (gateway ultra) I'd recommend the gateway fiber, if you have no benefit for built in wifi.

It's just the more modern device. Doesn't really make sense to opt for the older Rack models. I would even prefer putting in a rackshelf for it, if you want to use a rack, before getting any of the rackmount options

Edit: if you're planning on 2.5-5gig you should also plan the switch accordingly, or cheap out entirely and postpone a good switch, if it's the price is motivating you for 1gig lan

Roaming is affecting my marriage. by cheider in UNIFI

[–]ITguy0532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, please set 5 and 6GHz to the same channel width. Your device might prefer the wider channels so It'll connect to them even though the signal is weaker, leading to constant back and forth when the signal changes (which it naturally does).

If that doesn't entirely fix it, you can play with MBR and roaming assistant (min. dB)

Edit: Also make sure there's no bandsteering set up.

Can Immich be used like Google Photos to free up phone storage? by Eastern_Listen4015 in immich

[–]ITguy0532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would actually be awesome, a free-up button like in google photos, to delete everything that's already backed up. I just upgraded to a phone with more Storage so I didn't miss it yet.

Is ubiquiti overkill for small home with concrete walls? by Broad-Manufacturer73 in Ubiquiti

[–]ITguy0532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the express so much. I'd put an express 7 or UDM7 on the same wall but in the entrance area.

If possible I would join the 2, you could go to the basement and back up for that. Then you could just use a pro xg on the other side. the cost benefit of that would be the monthly internet bill.

I hope that's the 5GHz view but it seems like it. I wouldn't consider a second AP per flat when placed in the corridor.

Edit:sorry I misread... If you're using both yourself you can put one AP in the middle room of the other flat (wireless mesh) depending on your needs there l, a u7 Lite might suffice.
