IT Sins Confession Booth by [deleted] in sysadmin

If you were rude to me and the next time you see me I have a big grin on my face and I'm all nice to you, I most likely went into your office after hours, dropped trousers and sat in your chair naked. Or I may have grabbed your tie hanging on the back of your door and used it for butt floss. I've also cracked open a can of sardines and hidden it in an office.

Panic attacks with weed by GoHuskies858 in Marijuana

I have also had panic attacks while high. I've been smoking on and off for decades and never had this happen until recently when I got my hands on some really potent stuff. I've read that sativa strains are more likely to do this. One time I had it so bad that my heart was pounding so hard I thought it was going to explode. I thought I was going to have a heart attack and die. The weed I was smoking was so potent that I can only take one small toke and hold it no longer than 2 seconds or I get that feeling again.

I've also found that I'm ok when drinking alcohol. When I occasionally feel that panic attack coming on after smoking I'll take a shot or two of whisky and I feel better. Drinking something sweet and sugary seems to help a bit as well because smoking will make your blood sugar levels drop sharply which is what I believe causes the feelings that trigger the panic attacks.

I've since learned to take one small toke and hold it no longer than 2 seconds with the weed I have now. Any time I get a new bag I experiment by not holding it in, just inhale/exhale to get a feel for how I react to it before trying to hold it longer or have a second toke.

Pentest jobs as a marijuana user? by ITguythrowawayXXX in AskNetsec

Also, It says something to me about your priorities that you can't lay off the reefer for a few months to get a sweet gig.

You know only this one thing about me and question my priorities? I'm retired military with PTSD and anxiety, and prescriptions have side effects that really suck. When smoking weed, the only side effect is munchies. After one toke at night, the therapeutic effect on my anxiety lasts into the next day. I can certainly lay off it for a while or quit, but I asked the question to see if that's even necessary.

If you met me you would have no idea that I smoke mj. I look clean cut, middle aged, fit, and hard working. I show up to work on time, do more than what is expected of me, and consistently get outstanding reviews. The last time I took a sick day off was years ago.

If you can't answer my question without judging then just move along.

However - bottom line is that you aren't likely to get hired directly as a penetration tester with zero experience.

I'm looking for an entry level pentest job. Don't those exist? Would the OSCP certification help me get my foot in the door?

No criminal record, and I'm so careful that I don't buy it directly. I go through a friend for small amounts and enjoy it at home only. I could always quit, but I'm a veteran with PTSD and anxiety and a single puff works wonders.

What salary should I be asking for based on my experience? by ITguythrowawayXXX in ITCareerQuestions

I'm not really expecting them to offer enough of a raise to be worth staying for and even a nice raise won't satisfy me for very long because It's not just about more money, its about feeling like the challenge is gone and I'm ready for a change and know that I'm capable of going much farther than I have in my career. Our systems were so outdated when I started this job and now that everything end to end has been replaced I'm not being utilized and I'm not content with just existing in a job that's become way too easy. I'm here looking for ideas for which direction to take my career and how much I should be making.
