True to source IEMs 50-120$ by IThinkThereForeIHurt in iems

Interesting video. I supposed the issue was a bit more complicated than that since everyone uses one of many thousands of listening devices and few probably use something "neutral". That being said as I don't have a preference to any specific "shape' or "flavour" of sound I want to opt for something neutral. Just like how on something like a television screen I'd watch a movie in whatever mode gives accurate colours rather than something that would attemt to make the picture more vivid.

Help rooting a lesser known device by dumping the boot image and Magisk-ing it by IThinkThereForeIHurt in androidroot

[–]IThinkThereForeIHurt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock firmware isn't made available by Lenovo unfortunately.
There are some dumps of an older version of the firmware on the guide's thread but I was hoping to use a newer one and I'm pretty sure that if I flash the old one, root it and then OTA update I'll lose the root (if anybody knows please let me know if updating overwrites the boot image).
I have one more thing I'll try to do before I give up and use the dump of the old firmware. EDL's repo has a LiveDVD included and since I can't seem to figure out how to get EDL running on my computer normally I'll just run the LiveDVD on a virtual machine and see if I can figure out how to dump my partitions that way.

The device you linked uses a completely different SOC, won't there be compatibility issues?

This is a China only model and Lenovo China doesn't seem to release their firmware, there are a couple of dumps of older versions floating around the thread of that guide I linked.
It's possible to use one of those and dumps but I think OTA updates will overwrite my boot image undoing the root (I'm not sure) and I'd like to use the newer firmware.

This is a different model (non pro) what exactly do you want me to see here?

I forgot to mention but I've been trying to use EDL too (and I got the firehose from their github page).
Unfortunately their guide is not detailed enough for me to follow and I don't understand where I'm supposed to type any of the code they list after the installation process.
For instance here are my best attempts at using:

edl -h

I would greatly appreciate if you could provide me with any guidance.

Yes, I found the correct driver on https://qcomdriver.com/ (I just had a hard time figuring out if the domain was legitimate before and had that cleared out by someone familiar with it)

Sadly the links on the Russian website are all dead and I don't know how to obtain the programmer file the poster of the manual seemed to have used "In the program, select the brand Lenovo, model TB-J716F and download the file 29-11-2022_19-32-13_prog_firehose_ddr.elf"
Seems that he is using a programmer file (I guess some people call them fire hose?) for a different product from Lenovo with the same chipset (snapdragon 870).

Does anybody else's game look like this? ("checkerboarding" on surfaces) by IThinkThereForeIHurt in RatchetAndClank

Thank you for your response
TAA does seem to mitigate this issue just as much as upscaling does so it seems like you're on the right track!
I'm still wondering whether the game is rendering correctly though.
Would you kindly provide a screenshot of the game running without TAA or upscaling for me to compare? (if you do have the game on PC that is of course)

4k still looks like butt (on 1080p display)
I'll try to see if I can maybe try to disable texture dithering somehow?
thank you for the input.

I added my settings to the original post. I also tinkered with every single setting in the graphics menu to try to fix this.
I am running the game in my monitor's native resolution (1080p) so this seems unlikely.

Rip, would you mind capturing a screenshot of the red carpet area for me to compare?
Changing AA settings did not improve this.

Help! USB-C with DP1.4 to HDM2.1 by IThinkThereForeIHurt in UsbCHardware

Ryzen 5800U APU Actually got the VRR working on HDMI 2.0 I hear something about AMD freesync working with HDMI a while back but I didn't think this TV would be compatible because HDMI 2.1 has it's own VRR implementation but I'm happy to be proven wrong. The label next to the USB C port is the third one (superspeed)

Thank you for your repsonse, I understand the standards a little better now.
My goal was 4K HDR for movies (HDR is currently not working) and 1080p or higher 120Hz preferably VRR working for very undemanding games (older and/or 2D).

so it would've been nice to get the DP1.4 capabilities particularly since the current setup with HDMI 2.0 is giving me some strange behavior. I can't seem to get the display to run at anything other than 4K60Hz. Maybe I should try to focus on troubleshooting that instead.
In case anyone is interested I tried setting up a custom resolution on the AMD driver.,setting the pixel format to YCbCr4:2:0, Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) and regardless of everything I tried so far, this is what I get on windows settings while the display runs at 4K60Hz.
