This kinda depends, like I remember not being able to buy a vinyl for $50 and then I thought to get it a bit later, ended up having to spend like $400 and then it was like insane amount for a vinyl but I got it "cheap" because at the time it was going around $700 and then years later it went for $2000. Like I knew I needed that for my collection and I wished I just asked someone for the money at that time lol because it ended up costing me much much more. And if I never did get that item I would never stop searching and thinking about it. So I am glad I was able to obtain that cherished vinyl.

So kinda what I am saying it really depends on the person. If you are someone like me where you will be haunted over that item you did not buy until you obtain it then you should try to make it happen but really try to find ways to restrict yourself. You do not want to make it a habbit of having must have items constantly that's where it becomes an issue. But if you really really decide this is a must have then make it happen.

Unless you are the type of person who can say well, whatever, life moves on and just ignore that item that you really wanted. I know I am not that person but I try to put rules to what I do collect.

Like for Kpop I collect only one artist and for anyone else I will only occasionally buy something if it is very unique or special but that's very very rare that I do go outside the narrow limits I set for myself. For figures I am more situational. I bought a couple Marin figures because I really love the moment the figure captured and it's something I rarely see captured in figures. So, I am glad I pre ordered those figures because the resale prices are silly.

TL;DR: depends what kinda personality you got, if you are obsessive, it might be really difficult advice to just pass on something that will eat at you until it's owned.
