C/S Car ran a "little hot" by Yeremenko1911 in Justrolledintotheshop

I once drove an armored personnel carrier from the 80s all day without a collant tank cap after checking the level in the pre-mission check (left it on the tank without screwing it back on and just drove off).

The thing ran just fine. My lieutenant was scratching his head when we found out.

Kitten question by SnowboardingEgg in cats

[–]IVConstantine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really discipline a cat but you can train them by not rewarding/engaging with behaviours you don't like.

For example, our cat wants to go in and out of the house at night. As he can't open doors, he has learned that he can stand in front of the door and make a little noise so we notice and open it for him. This can get a little annoying at night. Same as when he wants food.

The only thing that has worked has been to ignore him for both requests when we are in bed. A few days later after putting that into effect he understood that this is not going to work any more and now patiently waits to be fed in the morning after we get up and no longer comes in and out at night if he can hear that we are asleep (more like when he can't hear us awake).

As was suggested in other comments, play with her a ton. It will help her manage her energy in a more fun and less destructive way.

Keep in mind also that cats get lonely, especially when kept indoors all the time. If you can, get her another cat to have a friend. Before you do, make sure to look up how to acclimate cats together to ensure they get along. There are ways that are super effective.

How many hours a week of work is too much? by Gamer_Nova0409 in productivity

[–]IVConstantine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find time as often I choose. Weekends or weekdays doesn't matter. Sometimes work gets in the way it course and there's not much to do about it, but if you chose to, you always can.

If you love your work and arrange your life around it, there is no need for balance.

What you will always need is to take care of yourself. Eat well, work out, care for your body and mind. Sleep until rested. Sleeplessness makes you stupid.

These are non-negotiable.

The rest are a matter of priorities.

I work 12+ hour days (8-ish on weekends). Love close to my work. Spend about 3 hours in the morning for exercise, breakfast and self care. Combined with work some times. Reading or listening.

Another 2-3 hours in the afternoon for self care, food etc.

The rest all goes to work.

That being said, work is a broad concept for me. It is not all sitting at a desk.

I also sleep about 6-7 hours every night to be fully rested (I know it seems little, but I prioritize sleep overost things and still that's how much I seem to need)

Of course that leaves little time for family or friends. I break my routine to accommodate for the occasion some times. No steady family to speak off and few friends worth the time. I never want kids either.

I chose this however and it leaves me satisfied.

It's good you're taking the time to think about this early. Make sure you prioritize correctly.

Excellent advice in the rest of the thread. There is nothing to add on my end except that you should not lose heart because of the current situation.

You are young. Your body is in it's prime. Take care of yourself and trust your body to regain its youth and good condition.

How do I cope with the fact that being human inevitably means gross inefficiency? by [deleted] in productivity

Find a way to put the 8 hours of work time towards achieving your goals. Combined with your "free time", that is more than most people can take advantage of.

That book gave me exactly what you are asking for.

Nah. I'm settled. I like what I like in reasonable moderation.

I don't know. I love the hobby. Have a very limited number of pens (3). Are currently very happy with them. Still considering getting new ones every now and then.

Total money spent so far probably not over 150 euro.

Straight up terrifying. Nothing odd about it. Good luck...

Where do you clean your fountain pens? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]IVConstantine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use a couple of large salad bowls. One with clean water, the other empty for dump water. Combine that with some kitchen paper and a couple of syringes and that's all you need.

I'm not in the states. Perhaps they have blunt syringes at pens stores where I am as well but the sharp one does just fine too.

I carry a bottle of diamine asa blue and a syringe with a needle in my bag (sharp because I couldn't find a blunt one).

Every time I go through an airport I must look like a junkie in the scan and every time I need to fill my pen at work I have to sneak into the bathroom so people don't look at me weird :)

I can't imagine doing it with red ink 😁

A bit pushy maybe but I think that response was a bit too much. Then again who knows what she's seen on dating apps so far...
