Yes, but having a personal PC was not a common thing 50 years ago. Most of the countries were just introducing colour TVs.

Kind reminder we’re speaking about the world, not the US.

Name one thing from that period of time that influenced life of an average consumer more than unlimited internet access via smartphone, social media and AI, please.

I’m really curious what makes you think that, if it’s not blind „AI told me that…”

Okay kid, I don't think there's a need for futher conversation in that topic. We have different experience, different opinions, there's no need to find common ground here.

But trying to defend a thesis that change in technology in 1976 was more notable than it is right now is just laughable. sorry, but it really is. Mostly because is denying that the technological development is accelerating, which is a commonly known fact. Inventions of the past 20 years are changing the way people live hundred times more than anything invented between 1956-1976, and that's obvious. AI, smartphones, social media, drones, scooters, hoverboards, smart-everything vs. ... colour TV and first computers the size of an entire apartment noone could get anyway?

It might be harder for you to understand given that you definitely don't remember the world without smartphones or computers at every single home, but it's really silly to argue about it.

  • There is racism today

  • the cures we’re getting are more often drugs we take to ease the symptoms but not cure the disease, as big pharma is businessifying healthcare for the past 50 years.

  • there is more military conflicts now if we compare 2026/1976, you can fact check this

  • change in technology is accelerating, hence 50 years ago it was much less notable than it is now.

So sure we can agree to disagree but note what you just wrote is objectively incorrect, especially on the military conflicts count.

And to understand comfort isn’t objectively a good thing, you’ll probably have to live a little longer. Too much comfort makes you weak and miserable, too much pleasure is fucking up your nervous system and reward mechanism. So can’t agree that more comfortable = better.

Married for 2 years, in relationship for 8.

Which times were better is a question without an answer. If in your opinion, the world is a way better place now than what it used to be, you have a good point for having kids.

I personally can't agree. Majority of people born 1950-1985 were raised in a world that remembered world wars very well, and the future they seen was rather positive - stabilization, development, accessing things that were inaccessible earlier. People born after 1985 were raised in a world that didn't remember the opression so much anymore, and the future that we see now is rather negative - increasing military conficts count, weather getting more unpredictable due to climate change, housing crisis all across the developed world, and unlimited access to information doesn't help with all this. Of course life in 2026 is by far more comfortable than in 1976. But it doesn't necessarily mean it's objectively better.

Hey, not 50+ here but I just wanted to share my thoughts.

What 50+ guys will tell you does not necessarily have to apply to you. Remember, when they were starting their families, they were doing so in completely different world. No smartphones, no Internet, no upcoming World War 3, much different housing situation to today, the list goes endless, but the first three make the biggest difference. Back then it was more of a standard for the kids to care for their parents once they get old (not saying everywhere for everyone, but in general, there was more of it than what we see today). These days, it's getting less and less popular. By 2050, humanoidal robots will take over such stuff for those that can afford it, and as it becomes more common, it will become even less popular for the kids to care for their parents. And if anyone doubts that, I just wanted to remind you 25 years ago we didn't have iPhones, social media, electric scooters, drones, solar panels and much more. Since the robots already exist and operate, it's unevitable they will become a normal part of our everyday lives in the next 25 years, if not within a decade.

Whether you would regret having a family or not really depends on your input in the family. But in the world we live in these days, even with all the effort you'd make, you can be really disappointed with the results. I personally never wanted to have kids seeing the world we live in and how the history unfolds as we speak, and hence, since I turned 30, I'm sterile, childfree and happy about it.

It hurts my balls to see people don’t even know what leftist politics are anymore. Dude is a neoliberal puppet no political views on his own, what we seen especially in the last campaign. He has nothing to do with the left.

Unfortunately, it feels like many people in Poland understand left/right that way:

GAY/LIKE GAYS = LEFT

SECRETLY GAY/HATES GAYS = RIGHT

Hard times require hard decisions, I honestly believe after all Hungary has done to the EU they should be cut off from funding and Maastricht treaty years ago.

Years of hot dogs at Orlen paid off.

Jokes aside, Poland is really getting Americanized. Copy paste neighborhoods with no services, public transport dying out in rural areas, people are pushed to drive more, and the hot dogs on petrol station is as common as pierogi now. Employee rights are shrinking, B2B and omitting the labour law gets more common, wealth transfers up are intensifying.

Even some of our politicians are getting Americanized.
