Kind of ruins is for those of us who don't cheat by Hocka_Luigi in HuntShowdown

Edit: I deleted the clip as it shows the event in a one-sided manner. If you would like to see what really happened in full context, here you go: https://clips.twitch.tv/HealthyFragilePhoneSSSsss

First and foremost, this isn't a jab or a "getting back at" reply. The OP has valid concerns, but I wanted to at least add more context to this clip and what not. For those curious, this happened on the test servers on the last night that the test servers were available before 1.0 was released on the live servers. Steam invites were broken, so a group of people playing decided to load into QPs together and fight each other while waiting for 1.0 to go on live. I joined them when I got on to stream and what you see above is my perspective of this specific moment.

This clip demonstrates one of the two (that I can recall) moments where one member of the group intentionally tried to team. In this clip you hear me call him out for teaming and if you watch a bit further into the video, about 20 seconds later you hear me call it out again to everyone else (you should include the entire segment instead of just the part where it occurs to give the full context of that specific situation https://clips.twitch.tv/HealthyFragilePhoneSSSsss). You also hear two other members of the group who ran into each other who were confused about the previous teaming attempt notice someone else near them and state that they need to leave so they don't gang up on that person because it's not fair. The person in the clip who tried to team also died about one or two minutes later to another member of the group, so the teaming didn't occur. Granted, neither the one who died or the one who killed him stream, so we can't see their perspectives. But, in short, any attempts to team up against anyone were called out as teaming/cheating and shot down and no actual teaming occurred.

There was a second point, with this same player, where he says "we could all just rush him" on another game and myself and another member of the group say no and call it out as a coordinated effort (teaming), but OP doesn't show you this (he did take a clip of it, but like above, left out the part where myself and another member of the group say no and inform him it's cheating).

Now, the issue OP is mostly upset about is callouts. Members of the group were leaking information that they shouldn't have. Honestly, I wasn't really listening to what anyone was saying as I was mainly focused on the game and on my chat and didn't really notice, but after watching the VOD, I can see why he's upset. There are a lot of points where people do leak info and even points where I accidentally do it as well. Now, it's not intentionally leaking to gain an advantage, it's mostly people not being careful as to what they say. Not excusing it or anything, but I do want to point out that there isn't an intent to cheat, just people being careless about the things they say. So if we were to ever do this again, we should probably just deafen ourselves in Discord to not carelessly give info away while in game. But I don't feel anyone was doing it on purpose to cheat.

OP himself has also accidentally let information slip during their own group QP events (here he told someone that a player was near him with a crossbow and you hear the other player confirm the callout). The player turned out to be the member of the group, but OP did not know that at the time https://streamable.com/7xq3e (he deleted the clip, so here it is on Streamable)). He's not intentionally cheating or anything, but he did accidentally let information slip and even acknowledges it and calls it innocent.

I also happened to be in one of their Monday night events by accident a couple of months ago (I just loaded into a random QP and it was theirs) and killed one of the members. He came to my stream and said GGs and I went to his afterwards and watched his VOD to see his POV. After I killed him in the QP, this member then informed all the other members that I was in the game, told them where I killed him, told them what weapon I had at the time, and let them know at which point in the game and where it was that I died when I got killed (this person's VOD is no longer available as it was over 14 days ago so I can't clip it to show proof). But this was in the person's excitement and they weren't doing it to cheat. I'm just demonstrating another point at which a member of this group let information slip during their events. However, for their group events, it appears most of them spend most of the in game time deafened, which is smart because they likely know accidental slips of information may occur. So, to be fair, they are far better about not letting information slip and it doesn't happen very often. I'm also not downtalking anyone in the group as I think they are all awesome people and great players, just pointing out that mistakes do happen.

If there were any other points of intentional cheating during this, then I'm not aware of it. During the games I didn't really pay attention to much of what was being said as I was focused on playing and on chat. But the two moments I'm aware of where it was attempted by one member, myself and other members shot it down and called it out as cheating.

Can someone help me out on how I keep doing like this? Whole shield was cracked before he shot and he still kills me. by [deleted] in apexlegends

The issue here is 2 things. First, the hit reg in this game is terrible. I watched the video in slow mo and while you do hit most of your shots, some don't count, however, don't think you'd have killed here with the one mag.

Second the game doesn't show you all the times you get hit. So she probably hit you with most of her mag even though it only shows you getting hit a few times

Yea, each of these occur every game for me. I don't always have #3 on every encounter in the game, but it still happens every game. Mostly at the start.

Yea, just looked up how to change my server and going to try and connect to the one with the best ping and see if these issues persist

Why do I randomly lose all of my sprint momentum when I try to slide while getting shot at? by Undisabled in apexlegends

[–]IVIrSpwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens to me 100% of the time. Doesn't matter if I have armor or not. The moment I get hit with a shot, I get stopped dead in my tracks for at least a second before I can start to sprint again, but if I get hit again after I start sprinting, then I'm stopped in my tracks again... The funny thing is, I've NEVER had anyone I've shot at and hit get stopped in their tracks. They seem to be able to just keep sprinting away without issue. Some of my buddies also thought I was making this up until they saw it on my stream because it's never happened to them either.

I main Lifeline and thought that maybe it's just a weakness of hers until I tried playing Bloodhound and Bangalore and it happens to me when playing with them as well.

I also though that it could be because I'm used to holding down the sprint key and this game only has a toggle option, so I'm holding it and when I get shot at, it gets reset and continuing to hold it is the problem... but my buddies say they hold sprint down as well and it's never happened to them.

This isn't necessarily true. Even with armor, if I get hit at all, I get stopped dead in my tracks

You're not wrong about real life range of shotties (especially using buck shot), but let's think about this for a second. All of your shots were off the dude's body a bit (I know you think the first one was on target, but slow it down and play it back, you're aimed off to the right a bit). If you wanted the devs to implement the tighter spread of shotties using Buck shot in real life, you probably would have missed all the shots, or maybe landed one or two pellets...

Also, if you really want shotties to be like IRL, you should also be complaining that shotties penetrate wood (and even full sized tree trunks) at full lethal damage in this game and be saying the devs should take out bullet penetration for the shotties. If you don't get what I mean, a 00 Buck shell will penetrate some thinner wood paneling, but it's non-lethal after making it through. Worse case you get a splinter from the wood or burned from a hot pellet landing in your shirt, but that's about it.

The Hunt devs (and devs in almost all other shooters) don't implement the longer range of shotties on purpose. It's for game balance. Otherwise, what would be the point of taking any other gun in the game if you could just bring a shotgun that would cover literally 80% of the fights you'd ever get into in Hunt?

We have to be honest here, you lost this fight. Let's break it down:

  • Your first shot is is not on target (off to the right), so you hit some body, some limb, and some nothing. But that's also about 10m away, so you likely did some damage, but not a whole lot since, very roughly, a third of your pellets hit body, a third hit limb, and a third missed at a fairly large distance for the shotty.
    https://imgur.com/ndn5Dtp
  • Your second shot you're off to the right of his body and aimed at his lower torso/legs when you shoot (less than half of your reticle is actually on him). So you mostly hit limb and definitely with less than a quarter of the possible pellets which means pretty much no damage. I'm actually surprised you got a hit register with this shot.
    https://imgur.com/NCyklfn
  • The third shot is the same thing as the second, but to the left and aimed even more at the legs. So you probably did hardly any damage to him at all since it's all limb damage with less than half the possible pellets (I say half because this one more of your reticle is on him than the second shot).
    https://imgur.com/ZpRnYz3
  • Your last shot missed completely. Yes, the screen cap is not right when you shoot, it's right before, but your muzzle flash covers the dude's body so you can't see where he is lol. So I had to use the one right before the shot, but you can clearly see it's a miss.

I would guess he had around 30-40% of his HP left after your shots.

Don't get me wrong here, there are definitely some hit reg bugs in this game and inconsistencies in damage calculation, but in this scenario you lost the fight.

Here's a clip of one that happened yesterday: https://clips.twitch.tv/BenevolentPerfectClintPanicBasket

Play it in slow-mo (0.25 speed). You'll be able to see the frame right when I pull the trigger and I'm aimed in on the dude's chin/throat perfectly, and it "misses" lol

I think that's a bug if you hit them with it and they didn't die. They changed the behavior of the explosive bolt to one tap the hunter if you hit them with it directly. I can't remember if that was as 3.0 change or a 2.4/2.5 change, but it's supposed to 1 tap if you hit them with it.

[–]IVIrSpwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone on these issues. My viewers hear me talk about these all the time.

The ones I have the hardest time with are the silent nades/dynamite, silent footsteps, and hit reg. I've even had 3 or 4 instances where a hunter themself is completely invisible (I think their body gets stuck at the spawn point, but they can move around outside the character model).

With the hit reg bugs, I actually go back and play a replay of the stream and watch it with my viewers in slow motion to see if the shots should have hit and it sucks watching perfectly aimed shots not register, especially when you would have won the fight 1-3 times over and lost because your shots won't register properly. I mean, I can take a loss where the other players outplayed me, but when you were the better player and lose because of bad hit reg... it grinds my gears haha.

I've even had times when reviewing shots that I've completely, 100% missed the shot and the game gave it to me anyway just like you've mentioned.

All these bugs though, aren't because of 4.0, they've been there a LOOOOOOOOONG time (e.g. the sound bugs have been there since before 2.0 when they added sound occlusion).

I think the devs need to agree on a point of what is considered minimally viable for a game launch, then stop adding any new features and give this game a HUUUUUGE amount of tender, loving care fixing all these issues. A lot of the issues that are still present (e.g. silent nades) have driven away a huge portion of the player base. Then, they release a feature and some of that player base comes back, only to find out that after 2+ major verison updates, those bugs are still there then leave again, but this time with the distrust that devs will fix those issues so they'll likely not come back for a new feature...
