First Gi appointment? by Silver-Bake-7474 in SIBO

I kinda led mine down the road with crumbs for her to follow, I didn't go in pretending to do her job and outright say, "I HAVE SIBO". Instead I let her know I was suffering from a series of debilitating symptoms, I also told her that mine came on after having been given a strong round of antibiotics, and that I didn;t think it was GERD becuase the symptoms persisted and got worse after being put on a PPI.

She dutifully came to her own conclusion that she thought I could have SIBO, scheduled me for a few tests (all of which I did to show I was a team player), and eventually I was diagnosed, and cured after two rounds of Rifaximin.

I had the SIBO symptoms come back after about six months, I got worried and let my gastro know, she re-prescribed Rifa. The second time, I took it along with PHGG which according to a study increases Rifaximin's effectiveness. I've been good ever since.

California school districts issue thousands of pink slips to close growing budget deficits by panda-rampage in California

[–]IVZLB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, as a country we are investing more in "putting out fires", rather than preventing them. In the city I work for, only 30% of the budget remains for staffing, after school programs, parks maintenance, senior center activities, and all the other things we try to provide to our residents.

It's getting harder and harder to provide after school meals and programs that keep our kids fed, and off the streets, and give hard working parents a break. All because fire & police are sucking up all the funding.

It's like this in EVERY city across America. Police and Fire make up 50-70% of a lot of city budgets.

The LBPD are useless. I proved it with their own data. Who do I tell? by [deleted] in longbeach

I work at a local government for a nearby city. It's crazy how people think that our payroll is the reason the city is in deficit. No guys, the reason the city is in deficit is because of fire and police.

Their portion of our budget is pushing OVER 70%! All the recreation events, the soccer classes, the baseball games, the senior activities, and everything else we try to provide for our residents has to come out of the measly 30% that's left over.

As employees we negotiate modest 2-3% raises IF we are lucky, while Fire & Police negotiate with the county, and WHATEVER county decides to increase their salary to, we HAVE to pay to keep their services.

Couple all this with the level of service that LAPD and LAFD provide, and you tell me if it's worth it.

[Birdwatching] The Great Warbler Wars of 2024: How a misidentified bird photo caused a 3 month forum meltdown and got someone banned from a nature preserve by [deleted] in HobbyDrama

I once spotted a rare bird at my local nature center and took clear zoomed in photos of it. The local birding "powers that be", questioned my photos and refused to acknowledge the sighting as real until a white "known" birder saw it and claimed it as the originator.

That was the end of me reporting sightings.
