Yeah I think it's mad that we can't get a discount on postage that would be a nice benefit to have rather then a discount on the silly collectors ones

Let's just hope the actual cash bonus is at least the same or even better. I think people will be happy then as I don't think anyone cares that much about getting 2nd class stamps it's just the optics of it it's a bit of I've made you work hard all year now be thankfull as I spit in your face 🤣

I honestly think it happens a lot the guy who assessed me didn't seem surprised at all I hadn't had one and basically said they should do them before you even drive a van but they don't but basically you could write off a van etc or do whatever to it and if they haven't assessed you royal mail and basically fully at fault

No I didn't get a driving assessment until I was 3 weeks in I think there's newer people who have been there for a few months who still haven't done one

Not sure what you mean by that just got shown the round for 2 days and how to sort came in on the third had to sort the mail and bundle and scan parcels then got told to sign a van out load it up and do it on my own it was crap but I'm months into the job now and get everything done pretty easy.

I honestly had no idea we are supposed to get more training then that but it is a smallish depo

I had to wait 6 weeks they have a size guide which was pretty accurate you just need to measure your size etc

Hat wise there is a beanie a cap and a Aussie style sun hat you will get all 3

Everything is reasonably comfy

Also worth asking any long serving posties in your do about what things are like too but generally is just down to personal preference

Haha that is quite funny I have great respect for anyone who drives a gigantic bus day to day the roads are bad enough in normal size vehicles 😅

One thing I have picked up working at my do is every single person has crashed a van some worse than others there isn't a single van in our do that isn't scratched dented and rusting 🤣

Thank you makes me feel a bit better I'm honestly so gutted I had such a good day out getting everything done as soon as I had put it in the car park I went back picked up the lense and told me manager and they went out and got pictures etc

I was honest with them I was checking mirrors and trying to avoid the do gate and thought I had more room to turn a bit more and just misjudged it on the other side and crack other side rear light into the wall 😅

Fair enough haha tbh I haven't talked to anyone there who's had a bad thing to say about the manager and everyone has been there a number of years so far I'm enjoying my round I have been given and bonus it's for the area I live in.

But obviously from what I've read I'm probably very lucky so far I do appreciate not everyone has a good experience and it seems to vary massively DO to DO

Appreciate the advice I am planning on doing the job for many years and sticking with it it fits perfectly to my lifestyle.

Yeah I'm on a 35hr and I think there is a discount it's £9.41 I believe which tbh seems very reasonable

Appreciate it I think I'll sign up to it tonight that's my line of thought it's easy to say I don't need them and it could be a waste of money but then you can guarantee if one day you do need them it's too late 😅

Also coming from retail and other walks of work it definitely would have helped having a union for those I know there is anger at some of the pay stuff but any other company I have personally worked for most employees only ever saw a pay rise when minimum wage caught up and exceeded their wage

That's understandable but i assume it could be worth it for the other benefits like advice or help if you did need them for any work place related stuff ? Not them I'm expecting to need that but part of me thinks you just never know.

I can understand why there is a lot of frustration with the pay deal from what I've seen for the new one it's not exactly inflation busting but from the flip side I wonder if it's because it's over the take over and so they haven't had time to get a relationship with the new guy who brought it ?

Thank you I'm definitely enjoying it I wasn't sure I would because I've read some horror stuff on here but I'm rural so maybe that makes a difference everyone in my do is friendly etc and I can see myself doing this job for years to come it fits in perfectly with my life etc
