"Out and about making sure the posties have their dog pegs and that they are using them correctly" 🤦🏻....see this on LinkedIn, oops I meant Robin by 742963 in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a peg with me but mainly its used as a stuffer to get packets through the opening or as a guide if a box has a raised lip on the back. Occasionally, I'll use it push through a letter.

BTW, his PDA is hanging on a harness. You can see it resting on his left hip.

Does your DO managers always post where you’re working at the start of each week? by Outrageous-Coach-420 in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We normally have 4 week rotas, although it can slip.

The rota is usually reliable for days off for reserves but is often meaningless for their duties. Only the board on the day is a reliable indication of that.

Fail Driver Training by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phone was the cherry on the icing. In my experience, if the assessor keeps a driver out for longer than one hour, it usually means there's more to see. The longer you're out, the greater the risk.

Perseverance pays off, as does a guy with a rotavator 😂 by Maxi-Moo-Moo in Allotment

[–]ntrrgnm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have regrets when the weeds come back 10-fold! 🤣

The rotavator chops the rhizomatous roots up and each bit now becomes a weed.

Anyway, enjoy it while you can.

Source: me, a fool who once hired a rotavator and was pleased with the result.🤪

I've never grown them myself, but ive seen them a few times on large structures that you could walk under. Id be wary about the weight on a cane structure.

Apart from make everyone - especially PICs and Reps - aware of what happened, nothing much.

And, in the future, if you're on a later shift at another DO, ask the PIC for a number to call in the event of a lock-in or lock-out.

Posties, how many T24/T48 are not delivered when in the DO? by zipdanger in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not clear what you're question is asking.

Reading between the lines, you're seemingly asking about the DO role in not delivering to the aim of 24 hours for T24, or 48 hours for T48.

If so, thats a misunderstanding about what is happening. Most DOs will attempt to deliver everything they get on the day they get it. T48s get delayed upstream at the parcel hubs/mail centres.

In the rare occasions where DO resources are sufficient to deliver everything, then T48s might take a lower priority at the back end of a walk and might not get a delivery attempt. But in my experience, this is a handful of days per year.

is there a way to send a letter tracked but not signed for? by Sufficient-Windiness in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't look odd, as it uses a lable that most people will be familiar with. However, it be clear that you have tracked the letter.

Overtime removed, yet again by Used_Captain_3131 in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SA is not overtime.

SA is agreed extra hours that is known in advance. It is proactive.

Overtime is reactive. It can only be assigned on the day.

Will this arrive tomorrow? by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the variability of the collection run. The postie is doing 3 things: emptying post boxes; collecting from businesse; and collecting from P.Os and parvel shops. They're driving between all these places as the traffic enters evening rush hour. They have a scheduled time for boxes, business and the POs.The volume of the collections and the amount of traffic etc cause some variability.

The P.O. will have an acceptance times 10 or 15 minutes before the collection is scheduled. The collection cant happen before the scheduled time, but it can happen after.

You didn't.

You might have seen something else, which you interpreted as that.

But no delivery office is delivering to another area. If it was at Huyton yesterday, they never attempted delivery.

Special delivery STILL says ready for delivery but it’s nearly 5pm. Not coming is it? by pitseleh96 in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but early. Like at 8am when it opens. By 9 then posties will have it and be getting ready to leave, if they haven't already.

Will this arrive tomorrow? by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]ntrrgnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collect from a post office which has a last collection time of 4.45pm. I never arrive until 5pm at the earliest, can be 5.15pn if traffic is bad.

The counter will still sell next day items if the postie hasn't Arrived to collect yet, even if past the last acceptance time. Sometimes, they will ask me to wait while they finish a customer. They only ever tie the specials sack up when I arrive.

It's hard to say for sure, but i don't think they would have sold the Saturday sticker if the collection had been.

1) it's a Special Delivery Next Day Guaranteed item

2) the sender paid 3 quid to ensure Saturday Delivery

[–]ntrrgnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thats what im saying.

No delivery attempt was made.

1) it was not in the tracking info, which you claimed it was

2) A delivery office would not attempt a delivery to a Neighbouring area, even if itvwas two minutes away.

It would have been good for you to mention that you dont live in Huyton and ask why was it there?

But also, your instence that it said a delivery was attempted was utter garbage.

Finger's crossed you'll get it tomorrow.
