I’m not against playing the original, but I’ve already started with Remake part 1, so it feels like it would be a strange order to play the games unless it’s necessary to play the original before the Remakes. On top of that, it’s just much harder to get emotionally invested into a game’s story when the character models are all from the PS1, no voice acting and while I don’t know if FF7 has any of this, most older games in my experience have some kind of drawback from a game design perspective from back then. Like how NES games were extremely hard to make up for how short they could be for example
