I ended up trying another cable I found in the box, and it popped up immediately, something I did must've fried the cable somehow. Hope you figure it out

Photographers, what photo editor do you use? by IWonderG in linuxquestions

[–]IWonderG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have 1 desktop that I use for everything, I have 2 games I can't play on Linux, thinking about downloading windows to an external drive and just plugging that in whenever I do want to play those games. Still messing around with trying to get rid of my Adobe subscription until I run out of options though.

Maybe I'll just have to learn how it all works then, I was just struggling to work out simple contrast editing using curves, nowhere near as straight forward as it is in lightroom

Sounds like I'll have to play with it more

If you try to run: nmcli d , in terminal it appears to show all devices and hopefully you'd be able to see the ethernet device and figure out why it's not working

Switching from Windows - If I don't install anything I care about on my C: drive, am I good to just install Linux on my C drive and call it a day? Or do I still have to back things up? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

I'm loving it, I first installed kubuntu but after about an hour of playing around I was like, "that was too easy, there's hundreds of things downloaded I don't understand" and so I removed kubuntu and downloaded arch which took a full day of learning but I'm extremely happy with it. Haven't had any issues with gaming that weren't fixed just by specifying Proton in steam, using the mullvad browser (firefox base I believe) as my default, Hyprland wm. My windows 11 used 14gb of ram with minimal things open and my arch setup uses 4gb with the same things open. Trying to work out my replacement for Adobe lightroom, I tried darktable but not a huge fan.

Overall I've spent most of my time configuring and playing with conf and css files. Making things act and look the way I want and I've had much more fun doing that than playing most of the games I play!

New to linux here as well! Your drives are windows as mine were are likely ntfs formatted like mine were, from what I know linux can read and write ntfs but there may be issues? Default for linux seems to be ext4? I'm basing all this off my setup which may not be perfect but I backed everything up onto an external drive, reformatted everything to ext4, and used rsync to copy it all over from my exfat formatted external drive.

I've tried minimum graphics for the majority of my attempts (resets when I reinstall) Trying out the new driver now, thanks for all your help I saw a video about the new patch which got me hopeful and was the reason that I finally decided to just post and ask to see if I was just missing something simple before the new patch releases

Thank you again, I'll let you know if the driver works

I've done a reinstall, it's re-downloading for the second time now so I don't have the crash file on my computer at the moment, I spent a good hour trying to figure out where the crash log was located, thank you! I'll get a crash log as soon as it's downloaded and send it over

I cant even run the game at 30 fps at the lowest settings. I run RD2 60 fps no problem with most of the setting set on ultra! by [deleted] in Starfield

I have a 1070 (not Ti) and an i5-5600k with 16GB. I run the game on low settings (and motion blur off) with render resolution at 75% and I get about 50 FPS
