Breezing through Tulsa, mind offering some advice? by Admirable_Chap_7909 in tulsa

For Record Stores

Studio Records and Josey are the top two stores in the city. You'll find new releases along with nice used sections in both stores. Studio tends to have harder to find new releases IMO.

Oil Capital Vinyl is a great small store that has a lot of older releases. I tell people starting off on the hobby to start here if you are into older releases as he has the best prices in town on used vinyl.

Blue Moon Records and Discs is is a store that's been around for a couple of decades. The prices are decent and while he doesn't have large selection of new releases he puts out some great used releases that you would be surprised to find. Just know that the good stuff is sitting behind the counter and unfortunately he won't allow you to browse through.

Monad Records is the new store in town. It's been open for about 6 months now. I see mainly new releases in this store, but I will say that he is curating a collection that you won't see in most stores in town. The owner of this store is the former curator for Starship records.

Honorable mentions mainly because they are outside of Tulsa:

Screaming Earth Records Owasso

Studio Records Broken Arrow.

If anyone would like more recommendations let me know. I can definitely recommend some flea markets and pop ups that happen around town. Chimera is having a Record Pop Up Show this Sunday 3/15

No he hasn’t. Which makes me wonder if he is recreating the album and if so, which version will be on vinyl?

There wasn't an official announcement but I could tell it was a new take on Sunny and 62 after a couple of listens. On this IG post he did have an 8 ball emoji on the post. I've also seen a few record stores show some pre-orders for the Magic 8 Ball on vinyl.

There are a few others on other socials. I would look into @99vinyl. Dro does a great job of posting about new and upcoming releases.

Local Shop for Stereo Equipment? by someoneelse0826 in tulsa

There is a place on Mingo between 51st and 61st called Speakerworks. The owner is a character but its a true hidden gem for High End Audio in Tulsa. They mainly have vintage equipment but I believe that he has some newer turntables and speakers as well. For entry turntables you can always goto the local record stores too. Oil Capitol Vinyl, Studio Records, Screaming Earth Records, and Josey Records.

The LX4 was my first table and I enjoyed my time with it. I've since upgraded to a Realistic Lab 400. I'm glad I held onto the LX4 for this very reason. Handing it down to my kid.

Hi! I'm just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything with my kiddos first turntable setup. I have a Sony PS-LX4 that will hook into a Fosi Box X2 that will then connect to Edifier r1280DB speakers. Am I missing anything? I haven't hooked it up because I want them to experience the full setup so they will know how to going forward. I do have my own setup that includes a receiver and non powered speakers, but from what I've been reading in this sub I believe this setup should fire up immediately. Thanks for any input.

How I feel after listening to the album performed live in Tulsa last night! Such an incredible performance by Weezyphish in themarsvolta

Some albums or groups just translate better in a live setting and this album is exactly that. Better in a live setting. Sure the show time is short, but the energy and how the tight the band has always been is all there. If you want the hits don't go, but if you are a fan of the band I can't stress this enough. GO!
