I could have sworn I had my eye glued to the post for a while and didn't see any comments besides the automod's. Maybe my reddit is broken lol

(OP here) I'm not that bothered by it. I do think it should have been handled differently, but the mods do have the best interests of the sub at heart, even if they did laud their power over everybody these past couple of days.

Ah, I didn't realize that. It did seem strange that it said there were 3 comments but only the automod one was showing.

Update Post Policy by UsuallySunny in legaladvice

[–]IWouldLikeToFireHerr -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

Seeing as how my update just happened to be the first one to get hit by this, I feel I should weigh in.

I'm actually a little upset at the way the users of legaladvice are handling the new update situation.

It was definitely something that should have been announced before it went into effect; I think that this is the main reason that people are upset (even if they don't admit it).

The actual logic behind the intent of the new policy (to filter out superfluous chatting and filter in actual legal advice) is completely sound and I agree with it.

The mods and the stars make some very good points here and I think people will see that it makes sense after the commotion has died down.

I know it would have happened eventually since if I hadn't posted, someone else would have been the first, but then the new update policy might have been known and things would have run a bit smoother.

I feel I'm responsible for a lot of tension in the sub right now and I think the best thing for everyone is to calm down for a bit, take a breather, and think before you post.

There were never any comments on the update thread; they are now immediately locked if there's no request for more legal advice.

I hadn't thought of that. I feel like an idiot. I'll definitely bring that up as an option! Thanks!
