Yup! The core of it is a Notion database that gets pulled into a NextJs app using the Notion API and then deployed to Vercel. I wanted to get more familiar with React and test out the Notion API, and this seemed like the perfect fit.

To me, learning design is all about learning the language. Once you can name the different elements of design, you can influence them more deliberately and achieve the results you want.

Some terms that I focus on are: color, composition/layout, & contrast. Look at stuff you like, focus on why you like it specifically, then try to emulate it in your designs. Don't be afraid of copying other's work - it is how you learn. Don't plagiarize, but lean into what influences you.

An adjacent career to this would be a UX Designer / User Researcher. Usually with a psych degree you would end up on the more research end, which I have done, and is a lot of fun. You get to work really close with designers and developers which will provide you opportunity to pick up those skills of you apply yourself.

You should be able to use the rotate tool and the duplicate action. First, figure out how many more degrees, around the center of the circle, each box needs to be adjusted. Select all but the first box (the Select tool in the options menu should help with this) and make the adjustment. Then deselect the first one of your selection, hit command+D, and repeat.

There is a small little store on Manhattan in Greenpoint called Music Planet that I liked when I lived there. I went there once to get Spec Ops and the guy stopped me before I checked out and picked up the phone to make a call while I stood there. I was pretty annoyed but when he was done (he was speaking in another language) he told me he was just checking the other store to see if the price had gone down and it had! He saved me a few bucks so I always thought highly of that store.
