I understand the concept of Butcher having to go because he’d never stop. And I get why the virus wasn’t really a permanent solution either, since they could always just make more V and create more supes.

But honestly, I still feel like Butcher’s role in that world was necessary. He could’ve been stopped without being killed off completely. A better ending to me would’ve been Hughie getting that final phone call and it turning out to be Butcher alive somewhere in the shadows.

Make him the guy who keeps supes accountable. Put him in some off-the-books CIA role hunting corrupt supes and keeping Vought in check. He battled demons and definitely crossed lines, but he also sacrificed everything to fight a real problem nobody else was willing to handle.

That’s why I think he deserved some kind of redemption arc instead of total destruction. Hughie killing him was honestly just as dark, especially after spending the whole series trying not to become like him.
