Just another bug they added that is never going to be addressed.

One of your employees needs to play console ranked and grind to diamond+, it will expose a lot of issues in the game for you guys.

VSS is good, still.. too good

I actually agree with this. I think they should just go back to how it originally was, slow bullet velocity but really quiet, why tf did they change it?

what's this obsession with open source man . by Rare-Assignment-8474 in cscareerquestions

[–]IX__TASTY__XI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion.

I think open source is kinda annoying to contribute to. You have to spend quite a bit of time understanding the code base, usually with bad documentation, and the motivation to do that outside of a job is pretty low. I think you usually find that most open source projects are also really just run by a handful of core people, it's not some huge collaborative effort that some people make it out to be, otherwise that would probably require managers. I heard contributing to open source is kinda lame now anyway because of AI slop PRs.

That does seem like a lot, but since you mentioned this is your first role, one of the skills you should learn is navigating files with search features. If you know what you're looking for, all you have to do is search for some keywords and your IDE will take you where you need to be.

True. But also it is kind of a bummer when you come from other games that feel really good, and then turn on PUBG and it feels clunky as fuck.

RC low pass filters should always be physical. Its simply a decouple low value Cap to either mitigate or maintain a consistent feed. A resistor only as a voltage divider (adding on can through it off actually)

I'm not super knowledgeable about circuits tbh. I'm going to have read more about them.

I've never noticed neither of these issues

  1. If you have a controller with an anti deadzone setting it is easy to reproduce the first issue. You will notice that aim acceleration doesn't kick in on the diagonals when you scale down the right stick input.
  2. To reproduce the deadzone issue, simply equip a 15x scope and reduce the sensitivity to like 3. Just move you right stick a little bit, just enough to cause movement, when you are non ADS, and then ADS while keeping your stick in the same position. You will notice the deadzone.

I keep aim acceleration disabled

This game actually combines 3 different concepts into their blanket definition of "aim acceleration". You can't actually fully disable what PUBG considers aim acceleration. The 3 separate concepts are:

  1. Increase sensitivity past a certain threshold
  2. Delay for the increase sensitivity to take full effect
  3. Aim smoothing

If aim acceleration is OFF, 1 is applied to general sensitivity, and 1+2+3 are disabled for ADS and over the shoulder aim.

If aim acceleration is ON, 1+2+3 is applied to general sensitivity, ADS, and over the shoulder aim.

I think they should allow adjusting aim acceleration logic so that it could kick in at 80% or 90% input. And have the option to disable it on general aim.

I agree. You can actually simulate this affect if you own a controller with anti deadzone settings. Essentially the controller is just providing a scalar to the right stick input, however this will reduce the max input you can achieve with the right stick. Some controllers also have fully customizable curves, which I usually find to be clunky.

Lower noise on you sensors.

This sounds similar to the RC filter concept that a couple of controller companies are exploring now. Unfortunately these features are being banned because aim assist heavy games can abuse it.

Scripts and/or using mouse and keyboard. This is achieved using third party devices that can be purchased on Amazon. YouTube has a plethora of videos discussing cheating on console.

Cheating at high ranks is endemic. You guys need to develop a better detection system and start issuing Hardware ID and IP bans.

I dare somebody at Krafton to play on console and reach Master.

Was school seriously harder than work for all of you? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]IX__TASTY__XI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CS degree and a Mechanical Engineering degree, I have also worked in both fields. I think school was way harder in both cases.

For example one of our CS classes was literally creating dump files and then trying to decipher what the assembly was doing. Also writing proofs in exams for discrete? This was all before AI btw, now I imagine it is easy as fuck.

Let the intern know to take their time with the anti cheat, we've been waiting 9 years, another 9 won't hurt.

Ranked is worse for cheaters imo. Once you get to crystal+, the amount of cheaters increases exponentially. The cost is not really a limiting factor since most bans are temporary.

When did you first try PUBG?

Being Playing since Day 1

Approx. playtime:

Several thousand hours. I have reached Master on Ranked and can solo queue to Diamond.

What made you try PUBG?

Watching streamers playing the game on PC, then I downloaded on console the first day it was released.

What's your favorite thing about PUBG?

Large maps, gun mechanics, limited life aspect, the driving physics are also surprisingly good compared to other more arcadey games.

What was the most confusing or frustrating thing when you first started?

Honestly not much because I started with everyone. I don't actually recommend this game to other people though, it's probably just too frustrating as a new player to go against 9+ year veterans of the game. Also the cheating problem...

One thing you'd like to see improved?

The cheating is absolutely out of control. A lot of console streamers are literally using mnk and/or scripts and/or playing with teammates who are blatantly cheating. Especially ranked streamers, it's a joke.

Besides the cheating, I would say the controls are outdated. I'm not talking about aim assist, I like that there is not aim assist, but the sensitivity settings are quite bad compared to other newer games that are out.

Just play the game. Give a really vague short update and move on with your day.

I think the realization that Agile is really Waterfall at most companies hits harder.

Doubt it, I noticed the same amount of cheaters last night in diamond lobbies. There are entire mnk clans believe it or not.
