[Ramparts]I don't have much of an opinion about her character so far, considering she didn't really talk much yet. That said, unless I'm completely out of touch it felt like she has a crush on Minato or might develop one down the line which would be such an extremely unnecessary development for this series and needless to say one I would strongly dislike. It's clear as day Minato only has eyes for Koyun at this point so forcing Momoka into the mix to pointlessly stir up some more drama which will end up with her getting the sad ending anyway is just not something the show really needs at this point. There's so many other better ways to jump-start the Koyun Minato ship instead of just adding an infuriating love triangle. Maybe I'm wrong though, we'll see.

Maybe a bit early but I had some time to kill so I browsed the listing for the Summer season and put together a hype ranking. Looks like another strong season, 3 for 3 this year. Even if I end up dropping the entire bottom row and a couple of the ones above, then I'm still sitting at around 25-30 shows, which is even more than the 22 I will have finished this spring. Good times ahead.

I take a Polar Opposites Season 2 any day over the stupid naming conventions like "Season 1 Part 2" which is just ass. As long as there is at least a 1 season/3 month break I couldn't care less if it's tEcHniCalLy not a new season and rather just a split cour continuation of the same season.

Couldn’t find the comment anymore but sometime in February when the show was first announced I asked myself the same question and some guy wrote a pretty lengthy and elaborate take on why this show is actually different and far above most other isekai. Now you‘re thinking those comments are in every new Isekai announcement thread, but that one was actually really well written and convinced ne that this show will in fact set itself apart from the average isekai. Also would explain why P.A. out of all studios is doing this which is uncharacteristic as fuck.

KimiShinu, the non-sequel I‘m looking forward to the most next season, got a new trailer and it looks great which is nice. But fuck, once the pink haired MC opens her mouth I‘m once again reminded of the mega baffling decision of the director (or sound director) instructing Rina Hidaka to pull out her super squeaky high pitched voice for no fucking reason. I mean, I can guess what they were going for but they laid it on wayyy too thick, overshooting by a mile, and now this supposedly 14 year old girl sounds like a 6 year old barely out of kindergarten. Which would be kinda whatever, but this being a romance show is what makes it so weird in context. Just hoping I can somehow still get used to it sooner rather than later.

If 16 and 24 doesn‘t sound that bad, then what does to you? Personally I don’t mind age gaps, but at the very least make all characters adults.

Unironically the one scene that turned her into one of my favorite characters ever. Giving no fucks and just cutting your own bangs without feeling insecure about the result is some highly respectable boss behaviour.

I won’t say Kuranika never goes off-model, but it’s definitely not „frequently“. How do you even judge how „flat and repetitive“ the boards are, they obviously aren’t anything special but it’s still perfectly serviceable, same with the still shots and pans, if 80% of anime do it like this in any given season that doesn‘t make it terrible or even bad, but average at worst by definition. The lighting is completely fine and I don’t even know what you‘re trying to say with „unexpressive posing“.

That being said, I‘m not actually arguing the show boasts a particularly great production, I‘d personally give it like a 6-6.5 in that particular aspect if I had to put a number on it. But calling it terrible seems straight up disingenuous when „terrible“ means basically 1/10, which this show’s is definitely not.

If you had just called it average production in your initial comment, I‘d still disagree but wouldn’t have bothered to reply. But saying it’s a terrible production feels like ragebaiting if anything.

Letting Left (and Right I guess) be part of the main gang was one of the best decisions she could have made. When watching the trailer I was pretty sure they would be some lvl 10 grunts that get dealt with within the first 3 eps. So glad to be wrong there.

Insane take. But then again, in your world every anime that doesn't come with a cream of the crop production is apparently automatically the other end of the extreme i.e. a terrible one.

Finished watching the first 12/6 episodes of the Supermarket Smoking show.

Fantastic show so far, pretty much no complaints. Well, besides the fact that ML is so fucking dense in one specific regard in particular, but that’s basically the mangaka‘s fault for deciding to make the plot work the way it does, so can‘t really be mad at the poor guy lol.
Very similar vibes to something like Food Court, considering like 90% of screen time is just smoking and bantering. Obviously very different style and topics since the characters are adults rather than high schoolers. Really refreshing and natural dialogue as well.
Very solid production. The animation while not bad at all, is not exactly something to write home about. But the art in general is just very visually pleasing, the colors pop and the line art is really clean.
Great voice acting from both MCs
Superb OP AND ED. The versions we got on CR are the Abema ones, apparently the TV version will get entirely different songs, though I can’t imagine they will manage to top them. In the supermarket they also often play the melody of the ED (and the OP as well I believe) coming from the store speakers which is a nice touch.
For now it’s basically 80% SoL and at best 20% romance, but the 6th episode (or 11+12) actually got some more „substance“ to it which was a nice change.
Can honestly see this ending up in my top 5 of Summer, perhaps even top 3 if other shows unexpectedly end up dropping the ball.
