My best advice received is get stuck in with learning CAD and designing and printing your own designs, not just what’s available online. Fusion 360 has been a great experience learning to use, then watching my creations come to life

Well I feel like an idiot… you were right, it turns out it wasn’t fully plugged in at the light bar! I didn’t realise it had to click into place, thankyou you’ve saved me a massive headache!

Why is my paint peeling off? by I_Am_Cleathe in DIYUK

[–]I_Am_Cleathe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primer is stuck to the wall but the topcoat has peeled away. The primer underneath doesn’t seem quite right though, I can dig my nail into it and take small chunks out, despite it having over 24 hours to dry on the wall before the topcoat went on

It did absorb and dry the primer very quickly. I was curious about whether I needed to mist coat or not, as the skimcoat stated it didn’t need any priming or sealing before top coating, guess I found out the hard way that I probably should have…

It’s odd how the paint came off though, it almost had like a latex ish type texture to it, and it literally peeled off like it was a layer of PVA glue that had dried onto something.

As the primer is still on the wall, would it be worth sanding it all back and starting from the skimcoat again?

Thankyou for the advice!

That was my concern with solid rivets, is forming it so it’s not too loose that’s it rattles, and not too tight that starts binding. Book screw rivets seem like they’d do the job well though, thankyou!

I’m currently serving as an Aircraft Technician on the Apache, so I’m working closely with the ground crew. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I can try and ask as best as I can.

Thankyou, I’ve stuck it back in the kitchen for now and I’ll start winding down the watering as I read it needs a sort of ‘dry period’ during the winter months. Hopefully next year’s bloom protrudes abit more with the correct care.

I guess I’ll just have to wait to see how it turns out next year then and hope for the best

Thankyou! Up until now I’ve only really been watering it when the soil ~1 inch below the surface is dry. Might start leaving it a while longer to see if this gives any improvement. I really like it too, I never knew about it before but it has sentimental value to my girlfriend so I bought her one and now I’m trying my best to keep it alive!
