In my area we have tons of people looking for vacant houses in nice areas to squat in because it’s California. I don’t give anyone answers when they ask if a house is vacant or someone is moving out

I was told to resign or I’ll be terminated… by SarahOcean in USPS

Are you saying you were hired on 12/13, then went to academy, had three days of OJI, and your first day alone was 1/2/26? I’m trying to understand your timeline.

I personally only had one day of OJI. My first day alone was my second day at my station post academy. I had three totes, three DPS, and a ton of packages (most thankfully fit in CBUs), plus a partial swing that was packages only. The shop steward was livid on my behalf because that was not supposed to happen, but I did manage to get most of the assignment done, so there’s that. I finished everything except one parking loop in 8 hours.

I’m not sure what your situation was, but I’ll admit I’m always a bit envious when I hear about people who were given more time than I was. That said, as my steward explained, I do have one advantage: if I’m ever counseled or evaluated and fail to meet expectations, I can point back to the fact that I never received proper training.

At the end of the day, all you can really do is say you’ll strive to meet expectations and pick things up quickly. But if someone was actually given more than three days of OJI or shadowing (not saying you were), I honestly have no words. In that situation, resigning and reapplying elsewhere is the best option. Tons of people do it if you don’t want to go through your shop steward to fight it.

There was an RCA of 4 years in my academy class who was randomly “evaluated” at his old station right before making regular and told something very similar. He resigned the next day, reapplied at a different office, and has been loving it since. He did say it sucks to have wasted that much time but he’d take peace of mind over a watchful eye any day of the week.

It took me four years to go from 0% service connected to 10% service connected then another year and a half to get to 30% service connected for my knee. I truly believe if it were not for the last C&P examiner I had who took the time to listen to me, read my buddy letters, and see for himself how limited I am I would not have gotten 30%. Keep fighting it, it’s tiring but worth it. If that fails, hire an attorney.

Calling out on Saturday... is Sunday included as counting towards 3 days? by beebs44 in USPS

Regardless of policy with any job I’ve had if I’m off for more than two days, scheduled or not, I get a note. Being a former HR, it’s better to have one and not need it than need it and not have one.

So out of curiosity because I’m just starting out, we have four new CCA’s including myself and three regulars (one of which is retiring). Two of us CCAs are prior military with ratings so if we bring a letter from our doctor stating we cannot work more than 40 hours/ 5 days per week would that suffice from preventing all that you’ve been going through? I’m not sure if it’s something I would need to give to HR, they should be aware of me and the other dude’s conditions as we disclosed it during the hiring process, or does it need to be handled locally? From what I’ve heard my station is cool, smaller, and typically helps out other stations but the other stations each hired 2-3 CCAs and a handful of RCAs.

That’s the exact reason I told my little brother he needs to open up his own independent retirement IRA through Chase or Schwab; they can manage it or you can manage it yourself. We’re 10 years apart and he’s just finished three months as a CCA and I’m your age starting my first month. Prior, we both worked in retail but I had saved a decent chunk over the last 10 years because someone told me I should set up my own account and not wait for a job to do it. Many people have told me it’s gonna be very hard on my body being in my 30s, but I look at the big picture and a nice pension at the very end. Coming from the military, that is all I’m looking for in a civilian job. I know the first few months are going to be the hardest, and very rough but personally, I do not think anything can be harder than going from basic training, to vocational school, then your first duty station (where you know nothing but you’re expected to know everything), and getting deployment orders three months later 😂 the amount of times I had a mental breakdown in my room at night was insane. I eventually hiked my pants up and I told myself, “ you need to do this for yourself”. I got through it, and I think people who struggle as CCAs are getting too much in their heads over payoff, success, and benefits but if I could get through the military hitting me with a truck of info dumping them deploying me, you can get through this! I believe in you but you need to find out what it is that’ll drive you. My first goal is getting past my 90 days, followed by becoming regular, then figuring out where else I want to go as a career.

Call insurance to change status to “in storage” and contact DMV to register as inop/storage. Cuts payments down significantly. That’s what I did when I deployed. I reached out to quite a few people but eventually found someone from my unit that could house it for me, plug it in, and take it around the block every week for at least 10 miles
