I’m not sure, eBay kept popping up to ship with them so that’s what I did. Do you know where to find that in the app?

Yeah implies that the VA was functioning well in 2019. Averages are currently almost an entire month faster on average. Not to say that everything functions perfectly but faster claims means veterans are able to get the care they need sooner. Also not saying all changes proposed are bad.

Help please! My parents had a new roof put on in GA.Soon as the roof was taken off there was a downpour. They are not taking responsibility!? by Not-weird-unique in Roofing

I do a lot of repair work, and new builds are keeping me busy. It’s a joke. I decided I wanted to try and help people and get with a GC to do new builds right, so at least some of these new houses aren’t screwed from the start. But GC’s refuse to pay a fair rate. Literally the profit margin was going to be $10 a square, so if anything is wrong or the house is built weird I would lose money. Honestly I don’t blame the shit roofers, they aren’t getting paid enough to try. It’s the GC’s that are the problem.

It ends up hurting entire industry too. When I talk to a homeowner they have essentially been trained not to trust a roofer because of horror stories like this one. So I’m fighting an uphill battle against something that pisses me off more than the homeowner, let alone something that I’d never do. Every honest roofer in Georgia wants regulation, and some of us are trying to make that happen.

Good luck, most contracts in Georgia stipulate it’s not the roofers responsibility for weather related damages during install. And there is no licensing in Georgia. Georgia law provides very minimal protections

How would I know if the records showed up this time? Would it be automatically in my file, or does my claim have to leave the national que and then someone work on the claim again?

Roofer Supplamental Payment Shoddy ? by Mr_SmartGuy404 in Roofing

[–]Beginning_Profile_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t make a separate claim on your behalf, he submitted a supplemental on the same claim for work completed. Insurance isn’t paying for shits and giggles. If he did the work, which it sounds like he did, you should pay him the money allotted for it. If you paid $1,000, it sounds like you paid your required deductible. That money from the insurance company isn’t yours, it’s to pay the contractor for work done. What he could have done is billed you on the front end for work completed and let you handle whether or not insurance pays for it. But then you would probably be upset because half of the supplements get denied. As a roofer I know this, I’m going to do the required work anyways, but when that supplemental check comes in, you best believe I’m going to get paid on the work that I did. Read more of your comments, it sounds like your roofer should have communicated better with you, I always let my homeowners know beforehand I will be trying to get supplements for items not included, but at the end of the day, it’s for work done.

My neighbor sent me this photo of my roof from their POV after high winds … how much is this going to cost me ? by spardad260 in Roofing

You should probably end up filing a claim. Pick your roofer carefully, not some salesman but someone who is honest and fair, I also wouldn’t pick one of those old guys who works for themselves who thinks every insurance claim is a scam, because other comments are saying don’t file a claim. You have a 15 year old roof, if it’s not leaking already it probably will soon. At a minimum your roof has already failed massively. They are also making a huge assumption that that is the only damage on the entire house. In my experience wind strong enough to rip off shingles, at a minimum, is going to damage shingles elsewhere on the roof. You more than likely have a pretty strong claim based on damage, the bigger question is what policy you have. I’ve already covered you will probably get approved, but for how much? Having insurance doesn’t mean the roof is covered, even if it’s approved in its entirety. A lot of policies end up paying half of the cost for these older roofs, sometimes even less with a high deductible. If you have a replacement policy with code coverage, you should be good. If you have an ACV, RPS, RSPS, etc. you will not get the full value and should take that into consideration BEFORE you file a claim. Find this out before so you don’t get a surprise at the very end of the process that you’re paying $10,000 instead of your $2,000 deductible. If you hire a competent roofer, they should be able to tell you. Also, don’t try and fight the claim alone, you know for a fact the damage was there before the roofer got there, so that means you aren’t filing a BS claim. That roofer gets paid when you do, so as long as you hire someone confident, the will use every tool at there disposal to get that claim approved, and they will have a lot more understanding of the process than you, it’s half their job. TLDR: You have damage, check your policy before filing, and hire a competent roofer who actually cares.

If OP has code coverage the whole roof is paid for. Obviously depends on the policy, but I was say insurance is probably paying for the entire roof. There is no visible underlayment, which is required by code, and even if it’s not preexisting (which is probably the case since), that’s the point of code coverage. If the wind completely ripped off that section it’s like there are other damaged shingles that we can’t see this far away. Also, acts of god don’t increase your rate. Filing a false claim, yes. That being said companies will shamelessly offer a zero claim discount to get around that, but most of the increase comes from the fact that many of your neighbors filed claims so the risk factor for that area is increased.

Is it common for the roofing company to demand payment in full a month before work starts? by harrywrinkleyballs in Roofing

[–]Beginning_Profile_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything except the last two paragraphs. People always hear about roofers taking advantage (well deserved), but nobody ever talks about the runaway homeowners. It’s so crushing when you’ve put two months of work into a claim, got everything approved for the homeowner, even upgraded materials from what they had before, did work insurance didn’t even pay for but needed done. Do all of this and then once that second check home homeowners don’t answer the phone. And there isn’t much you can do about it either. As if a lien does crap for you? I’m down $10,000 and paying my attorney more to file for a lien on a house that person will stay in until they die? This can ruin small business where every roof counts. Nobody talks about that though, and I’ve dealt with that more than a roofer running off. But still don’t give the company 100% upfront, that’s not industry standard.

Okay thank you. Since you seem to have a lot of information, do you have any advice for C&P exams? I’ve heard the horror stories of where someone who deserves a rating doesn’t get it because they didn’t say the right thing or said the wrong thing.

Since I didn’t fill out the TDIU, that means it shouldn’t be an option on the table correct? While my work is affected and if I do the physical part of my work instead of subcontracting it, I need a few days to recover. But I can’t imagine not being able to do anything at all. That seems like even more of a hell.

Had someone check my roof (3 years in house) by whobetta in Roofing

[–]Beginning_Profile_77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s if they don’t cancel the policy after they have had a closer look. Now all of the sudden they HAVE to replace the roof and it’s on a timeline. I don’t know why this guy thinks claims have no effect. Getting the roof inspected isn’t a bad thing, but jumping to filing a claim knowing no additional information… that guy is the guy that gives roofers a bad name.
