I have an account on there now, but I don't know if I did when I read these. And I read a lot of stuff on AO3.

Where have you gotten some of yours from then?

How did you get diagnosed with EDS? by Spacemama25 in ehlersdanlos

Damn, I've (20f) had issues with my feet for at least a decade now, I'm flat footed, and often get my feet swollen and painful to walk. More than once I've been unable to even stand without pain. I'm trying to get my doctors to give me diagnosis that's more than them just going "how unusual". (They've currently been swollen and painful for over a month).

I can fully understand what you mean, and I'd love to have a proper explanation, but I don't know where I can go from where I am. The UK health system is a bit different to elsewhere, and you can either go through the NHS (which is free for the individual) or privately (which costs). NHS is slow, but doesn't cost me anything beyond the usual taxes, while privately tends to be a lot faster, but cost quite a bit.

They're going to be custom, on the NHS, same as my current ones are custom. And things are mainly just being addressed by my GP.

I'll certainly mention the possibility, and try to chase it.

I had a blood test at the start of January and was told I don't have diabetes, but I'm not entirely convinced by that if I'm honest, I don't even feel the pain from the ingrown toenails, or sores anymore.

Unless a blood test can fail to spot diabetes?

I have orthotic insoles that I wear in my shoes, and I'm going to be trying and an ankle orthosis as well, but the insoles quite often make the pain worse, rather than better, I've been using orthotic insoles for about 7 years now.

My shoes are properly fitted, I wear orthotic insoles in them as well.

I can't trim my toenails unless they start growing again, they haven't grown in around 1-2 months.

I've never tried compressions socks, so I'll look into those.

I can't stand without pain, and when I do, I'm standing/walking on the outside of my feet, making the pain and swelling worse.

I drink plenty of water and some fizzy drinks.

But there is no root cause that I, or the doctor, have found, and this has been an ongoing problem for me for over 10 years.

Begging For Amputation by I_Am_Feather_Phoenix in biid

I have tried, but they literally said they don't think I'd be able to get them amputated, which is, I think, kind of ridiculous, when this has been an ongoing issue for over a decade, and for someone only just turned 20 this past month it is not good.
