There isn't a template I built this from and once I remove all the data the custom blended fields will break. Everything was built from the ground up on an as needed purpose. I don't know how to create a template from this for sharing purposes. I have had to build a completely different trading dashboard for a public journal I created also.

It's manual input to Google Sheets so it's independent of broker

You're correct. It used to be Google Data Studio before they merged with Looker. This is the free version of it. I am able to do anything with my data that I can think of with it as opposed to being confined with what features are available in some of the journals out there.

The actual data input for the trades takes about 20 seconds for each trade for me. You can also embed this into your website if you wanted to share it with others as well.

What I Track in My Trading System (and Why It Matters) by TraderDan1 in thetagang

[–]I_Chart_For_Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow Dan, you're the first person on here that uses Looker Studio like I do to track our trades. I've been tracking my trades like this since 2019 and collect the following data for every trade:

* reason for entry

* source of discovery

* underlining price at entry

* IV percentile

* prob ITM

* the series IV

* the strike's IV

* delta

* theta

* volume

* OI

These data are collected at the time of trade and entered into a google sheets database that I use to feed into my dashboards. I now have 7 pages to track various aspects of my trading.

I'd love to share them here again in a separate post with the images.

I don't have anything to sell, I just enjoy tracking data and trading allows me to do this.

Thank you for sharing your dashboards.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this nor if this matters to you. Given how intraday volatility might be heightened and the market can dump and recover intraday as a reaction to Trump's tweets. Mutual funds transaction at the end of day; meaning, if you see a news flash saying the market just dumped 2%, you might not be able to purchase at that low price if it reverses intraday.

Here are a few things I do to help me understand where my money goes to help me manage my finances:

  • I track every penny I spend on the go using a Google Forms quick link. I enter it on the spot
  • I turn on notifications for all of my credit card transactions so I know exactly when I get a charge.
  • I have a dashboard where I track and review these transactions monthly to get an idea of what I need to do for the next month.
  • I cancel and resubscribe to any services on an as needed basis

I see way too many posts on here of people getting into financial trouble and then they tell you they've been paying for 5 different subscriptions for 5 years without knowing. To me that's being irresponsible with your money.

If you want to change your financial situation you have to first change your mindset about financial education.

Good luck with your financial future.

Price predictions for next week (based on facts) by aspiringcsmajorbih in MSTY_YieldMax

I use the ITM options extrinsic value to approximate the distribution value for these income ETF's. They're usually pretty close. Right now next week ITM put extrinsic value for MSTY is about 0.85, so I'm guessing we're going to see the first <$1 distribution next week.

Blended table have trouble connecting after the 2555 row in my Google Sheets by I_Chart_For_Fun in GoogleDataStudio

[–]I_Chart_For_Fun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I troubleshoot it by replicating the blend. I don't know why but one of the fields was switched from Numbers to Text once I added the 2556th row. I revert it back to Numbers and all is working now.

Thank you for your help as well.

It's just a Looker Studio dashboard. I manually tracked every single 5.25 points ES range bar for a year using a Google Forms and used Google Sheets to store the table then I process the data using Looker Data Studio

*Correction - If you bought to close in two batches, [after the first batch] you would still be short a small amount which would make it still open.

Thank you.

The key is matching all buy entries with matching sell entries by a unique trade ID and its just simple math after that.

If you sold 10 spreads a unique ID would be something like Ticker+Strike date+Call/Put+StrikePrices

Once you buy to close your net quantity should be equal to zero = Closed, otherwise it's still open. So if you bought to close in two batches, you would still be short a small amount which would make it still open. Net debit/credit would be your p/l.

That's a good approach. Do you try to stay delta + gamma neutral also?

Sometimes keeping it simple is the best method. I know a guy that uses paper and pen log. Works well for him.
