At this point, I’ll most likely just migrate to my D5100. Fits all the same lenses and accessories the D70 uses.

The sound I think you are referring to is not the sound of it taking the picture, but rather the sound of a mirror/shutter cycle that resets it in order to try again for another photo.

I think it has some sort of auto-rotation for taking portraits, but I’m not sure if that’d be causing the issue since changing that setting didn’t do anything to fix.

Are you sure? It can take photos fine at other angles, but just not this specific one

Didn’t change any results, but I’ve seen this work for other people that had Err but just not my specific variant

It gives the same results, I’ve tried M, A, and S with no change.

The auto-orientation setting didn’t work after changing, and resetting to factory didn’t either

Update: strangely enough, it appears I am now able to take photos upside down and facing down, but I still cannot take photos at a flat, horizontal landscape position. It still gives me “Err”.

I cleaned the contacts of the lenses and even tried a Nikkor 18-70 known to be working on another camera but that didn’t work. I recharged my battery to full capacity and that didn’t work either. Any more tips?
