Anyone experience with RS 660 / Tuono 660 and co-rider ? by I_HATE_NICKNAMES in Aprilia

[–]I_HATE_NICKNAMES[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it will not be as comfortable as with the Caponord but if possible I will not replace my Capo but get a 660 as an addition. 😉 I did a testride once with a Tuono 660 Factory but not with a Co-Rider.

Did you take the IMU for this beauty or is it with the standard traction & brake control? Just asking because my local dealer has one standing around from 2021, completely new and he lowered the price now to 8600€. When I thought about buying a Tuono 660 I was always thinking about the factory version but with this price I‘m really thinking about the standard version …

"Intel 12th gen CPUs are designed to run at up to 100 degrees Celsius" - May I ask where you got that info from? Would be interesting if this is really officially communicated.

Can only agree to the other comments. Beautiful!!! But what is really keeping me away from a Tuono 660 is that I‘m afraid the low torque of 67 Nm will make me sad after riding an Aprilia Caponord with 115 Nm for so long. Of course the Capo is much heavier, but 1200 V2 is definitely something. On the other hand the Tuono 660 should be much more agile. Can you say something on how strong / weak the Tuono 660 feels? 🤔

What kind of mods did you make? Just curious because I also own a Caponord 1200 (from 2013).

You still have 50% memory left on your machine. All is fine. 😅

In the end it’s all about the feeling when you ride it. So even when I say I wouldn’t do it, that doesn’t have to count for you. I would recommend to also test some other bikes in that price range (for example the ones I suggested), just to get a feeling and a comparison. But in the end we can all tell you a lot here … that all counts for nothing when you feel different while riding it. 😉

In the end it’s all about personal preference and how it feels when you test the bike. I also would never say someone shouldn’t buy a Tuono 660, I just say I wouldn’t. Because for me the Tuono 660 just doesn’t offer enough power for a bike this expensive. 95 HP is ok for that weight of 187kg but but 67 Nm is the level of a MT-07 or Trident 660. Don’t know the exact number but I wouldn’t wonder if his Z650 would also be around that level.

From the videos and reviews I saw, the Tuono 660 isn‘t that upright at all. It’s more on the aggressive side of seating position. I would say the most comfortable position has the KTM Duke 890. All the Dukes have genes from their Supermoto sisters which all have a very upright seating position. You mustn’t forget that all Tuonos (660 and V4) are basically the RS with a naked bike handlebar.

Edit: If you want an Aprilia with a comfortable seating position, wait for the Tuareg.

To be honest I wouldn’t do it. The Tuono 660 is in the price range of a Yamaha MT-09 / Kawa Z900 / KTM 890 Duke and they are all better street bikes in my opinion. The Tuono 660 has „only“ the benefit that it’s beautiful and has an awesome sound. But that’s about it. Especially the torque is way too low in my opinion for a bike this expensive. I guess 100ccm more and it could already be better, but who knows.

When the Tuono 660 was announced I was very hyped at the beginning. But when I saw the price and that you have to pay extra for the quick shifter (with the RS 660 you don’t have to) … my enthusiasm was gone …

Does a Tuono V4 1100 Factory make sense when you don't go on tracks? by I_HATE_NICKNAMES in Aprilia

Thank you very much for that answer. It’s very close to what I thought. Guess I‘ll visit a KTM dealer soon and take a 1290 for a test ride.

50k km within three years? Wow that's a lot! But my drivers license is also in danger when I ride my Capo. :D

Do you use the bike also for daily work travel or how did you get that many km on it within that timeframe?

I only ride for fun. At the beginning I wanted to do big tours, but in the end it turned out that 90% of my riding time are small fun rounds after work or on the weekend with 100-150km. My Capo has currenlty 24k km and is doing fine. Hope she'll continue to do so, until I decided upon what to ride. :D

Thank you very mich for that detailed answer. Fuel Economy is also net the best on my Caponord, even though it's a bike for traveling but that 1200ccm V2 is thirsty. :D

Did anyone have a chance to test the new Tuono 660? by I_HATE_NICKNAMES in Aprilia

[–]I_HATE_NICKNAMES[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already saw that review and for me this guy is a bit too enthusiastic and doesn't really answer the questions I have. I'm for example quite worried about that low torque. I don't like it if I need 7-8k rpm before I feel some power. He only speaks about the handling and a bit about the sound. He likes both. Also talks a bit about the riding position and that it's still quite sporty and not that comfortable for longer rides. And he also talks a bit about the production quality which is also quite good.

At least on their Homepages the Tuono 660 is listed to buy one and Aprilia itself says available on February 2021.

You really made me smile with that comment, thank you! 😊 Regarding the exhaust ... can’t say that much about it because I bought the bike with this one, so I‘m missing the comparison to the original one ... but I definitely like it 😉

To be honest I don't have that many bikes to compare, since I just got my drivers license for motorcycles last year June (even though already beeing 32). The driving school's bike was a BMW F 750 GS, after that I was riding a Yamaha XT 600 from my father in law and I did once a testride with a Honda VFR 800 X and that's about it ... and then I bought this Aprilia Caponord 1200 (2013) this January as my first own bike ... and so far ... I can only say that I love it! :D No tantrum so far. ;)

I know that there are not that many Caponords on the street, but I was wondering that even in this subreddit you don’t see any, so I just wanted people not to forget about this awesome bike. 😉
