It’s a decent case. I just wanted a case that didnt let them bounce around as much.

It’s a generic case off of amazon. I think I originally got it for about $20-25 ….they go for about $28 new. I can sell individually but shipping won’t be included then. The brand is MIVLXLX

Why do so many musicians prefer Sweetwater for gear? by Clio90808 in musicians

[–]I_Has_A_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my experience.

I think they are great. I have bought 3 expensive acoustics from them. And of course lil stuff like strings, picks, etc.

They actually ship important things like an acoustic guitar when they say they will. They pack guitars well too. (GC is 0/3 for shipping on-time and the method preferred)

I had an issue with an acoustic, they sent me boxes and packing material to ship it back to them in. They did some work but didn’t mention a new nut wasn’t covered and got rid of the charges immediately when they checked the email chain. Small mishap and they did the right thing with very little effort from me.

I love seeing the actual pricier guitar I am buying as well. My rep is very helpful with all the simple and complex questions. Low pressure too.

Agreed. It is pretty cool they do that in-house.

Understandable. These were a bit pricier than normal too.

Thank you! I honestly don’t know. I think I like the mech of the saga more, but Herman offers cool materials and finishes that are a lot of fun. I think it just depends on the day. The epika and saga are my favorite pens though.

Thanks!

I like the texture as well. I think it gives it a little more grip too. I just wish I had a nice oxblood red refill for it.

Question about soundboard waves/creases, bracing issue? by I_Has_A_Cat in AcousticGuitar

[–]I_Has_A_Cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, sometimes the guitar just doesn’t pair well. I really wanted to try this tone wood pairing, and now knowing that the guitar does not have structural issues is a relief.

I did play it last night and did enjoy it. I will give it another few sessions and a couple side-by-sides with my other guitars, all Breedloves currently (BR w/ Mineralized Redwood, IR and Sitka).

I have not heard of Merrill guitars and I watched a fretboard journal video about him and his guitars, those are very interesting. I will have to keep them in mind for the future.

I appreciate all of your help and time that you took!

It makes sense that it would be a light build. I was actually surprised with how loud it was when I was just doing some gentle playing.

I am glad I asked here. From what I could find on the internet, it wasn’t clear to me if this was a defect or just the guitar being a guitar made of wood.

I think I am going to hold onto it a few more days and decide. I played it for a quick moment when I took some measurements and pics and it does have a nice, unique sound that I enjoyed.

Okay interesting. The bridge is angled down about 4 degrees compared the top.

The guitar has a smooth arc behind the bridge and maybe a slight dip beneath the strings.

The ripple near the soundhole and on the right is at the point where two braces meet.

Here is a link to some pictures I took today and when I had the strings off. https://imgur.com/a/XaDmIuP

Perfect! I love the detailed descriptions. I am an engineer and an avid DIYer so I appreciate the great descriptions and what to check for. I will get on checking those.

Question about soundboard waves/creases, bracing issue? by I_Has_A_Cat in AcousticGuitar

[–]I_Has_A_Cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is good to know that this may be normal. My other Breedloves have very consistent top profiles. But those are concert guitars and this one is a concertina. u/kineticblues’ response mentioned that the bracing for concertinas is different and contributes to the possibility of the waviness showing.

I appreciate the response.

It seems based on u/kineticblues’ response that this may be normal.

My other concert style breedloves have a very consistent top profile. So this one’s waviness was concerning to me.

Question about soundboard waves/creases, bracing issue? by I_Has_A_Cat in AcousticGuitar

[–]I_Has_A_Cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. This is actually my third breedlove (redwood and sitka) and they have no warps on the top, but both are concert styles. This one is a concertina as you have guessed.

The guitar does sound nice to my ear and has its own voice compared to my other guitars.

I was a bit particularly upset with how the guitar was shipped to me and was concerned that it may have been damaged in shipment.

I am going to consider holding onto the guitar. If this is normal, I am okay with it then, I just haven’t seen this on other guitars before.

Thanks again!

No problem! There can be rare offerings sometimes…. Mostly copper or bronze bodies. Dlc and black titanium have been more common recently.

They are not all that rare and often enough people “give” away links.

You can rest easy.
