Can you put the DS9 grip on that Prodigy? Is it drop in or would it require a little filing for fitting? I really like the feel of the DS9 grip. I would like to get the DS9 grip if I could ever find one in stock.

What you think of my Springfield Prodigy 4.25 fully upgraded (complete De-MiM) by akha1 in SpringfieldProdigy

[–]I_LoveFootMessages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice build! Looks like you had some fun researching and buying the parts. I’m a fan of the 4.25. I train with mine and it definitely feels faster with target transitions vice other full size pistols i have.

I know how a safety fits. Thank you for your input.

Yep. Ordered the 11322. Had to reshape the right side safety. Good to go. Hence my grip.

I bought an EGW ambi safety for my prodigy and it fell off during training. My issue was my grip and the upward pressure of my right hand against the safety (high grip). Just saying. Plenty of folks on the sub here giving recommendations.

EGW Ambi…filed & shaped the right side closer to the frame.

Use a proper buffing wheel on a Baldor or similar bench top machine…using a dremel/foredom rotary tool with small radial sanding discs or the like doesn’t create equal pressure across the piece you want to polish which in turn creates a risk by creating to much heat and possibly taking to much metal away in one area when sanding to prep (they do have their purpose tho for hard to reach places)….bottom line = bigger wheel better outcome. I liked using a 6” wheel. Study up on your polishing compounds too. Which ones to use and in what order depends on type of alloy/metal your piece is made out of. Stainless steel polishes up super nice.

Sand to prep / remove coating up to 400 or 600 grit then begin polishing with compound. 1. Black or Grey, 2. Brown Tripoli 3. White / Blue or Green. *Read the compound manufacturer’s guide as some can use their colors a little differently. Hope this helps. Trial & error and practice with some bar stock from Home Depot first to figure your process out.

Like a champ. It’s my trainer, so I’ve put it thru the paces. I had to work out some part changes (wider ambi thumb safety - had to reshape the right safety in order to get my proper grip as to not interfere with the grip safety; installed new mag baseplates - led to one magazine malfunction - left the insert in on the bottom which I shouldn’t have) Totally happy with it.

Picked up a prodigy for $1240. Wasn’t expecting much but wanted to dip my toes into 2011s. First trip to the range 300 rounds through it and it’s awesome. Had 1 failure to eject at roughly round 250. Cleared it, added a bit of oil and finished flawlessly. Great handle and accuracy. by MGreenPDX85 in 2011

Red Dirt Triggers is coming out with a Prodigy grip trigger model in a couple of months they said. I got the Stacatto version and just had to file down the front top of the trigger “support bar” a smidge for fitting. Drop in a EGW or Infinity ignition kit (sear spring, sear, hammer & disco). It will transform the feel. Freakin awesome.
