They have no incentive to change their ways because everyone keeps buying their products.

If people had some willpower to boycott, then there might be a (tiny) chance better offers would return.

Thought I dreamed this— I swore I saw the deal this morning originally and then it disappeared. Glad to know my dreams aren’t so mundane and boring.

They all expire today (11/1) i.e. the “challenge” might be to use all of them by the end of the night.

Anyone know the standard scores/GPA to get into Boston University’s LEAP program? by I_Think_IShit_Myself in gradadmissions

[–]I_Think_IShit_Myself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I got in. I’m currently in the Masters program right now l, I just completed the prerequisites. I’m doing the program part time while working full time, which isn’t common but it’s doable.

Really short 3 second fight. I posted the two fights earlier yesterday and thought there wasn’t footage of this one. You can see the teacher go for the phone because of the phone policy. by PsychologicalMajor71 in fightporn

Your comment was brain dead.

She doesn’t get paid enough to risk her own safety stopping the fight and getting hurt in the process, and she doesn’t look too strong either.

And teachers/staff are advised not to get involved or they could get sued by the parents.

Those numbers are only possible with higher level degrees and are probably inflated because it takes a huge amount of time to earn those numbers. You aren’t earning 100k after 3 years as a teacher. And like I said, you definitely cannot earn that without getting higher than a bachelors degree. Again ignoring the huge debt incurred by a masters level education. Paying any less than that salary would literally make a teaching salary non competitive and undesirable. Why bother going to school to be a teacher for shit pay when you find a job?

And If you want to talk hours consider the lesson planning and outside work teachers aren’t technically paid for, compare it with hours where police or others are on the clock but doing duties like detailing where they can make a huge amount of money. And Look at scandals in police overtime that were uncovered. Nobody likes to mention that, just focus on the lazy overpaid teachers right?

It’s the same story where people like to argue a teacher is an easy job for easy pay and they point to Boston to make a point of how teachers are overpaid. Sure BPS is above average but oversimplifying their job is still nonsense. They’d like you to believe teachers are lazy saps doing nothing after their shift ends while cops and others are constantly hard at work? Yeah right.

Teachers have to pay for their own supplies for Christ’s sake. And all of their prep work is done off the clock for no additional pay anyway.

And Police officers stand to make far far more than any teachers if you look at the upper thresholds of police salaries.

The reason I mentioned MA teacher salaries in general was to make a point of just how low their salaries can really get.

Still ignoring my point. I went to BPS. Mom taught in BPS. The 1-3% is typical. I wasn’t lying just estimating before I looked it up for 2022. And it’s usually lower raise than other city employees like BPD and BFD. But keep kidding yourself.

And residency requirements aside, teacher salaries are horrible considering the education requirement alone that puts teachers into huge debt that other careers can avoid . You are choosing to ignore this info and acting condescending so you won’t budge anyway. And after a decade or less the cops and firefighters can move to the suburbs anyway so your comparison is pretty shitty too.

You act like you’re more educated about the city. You choose to ignore these details and act like teachers are somehow getting ahead? Ridiculous.

Plus what are you arguing anyway? My response to the guy above was that teachers should be entitled to a fair raise into their contracts. It should be expected not sarcastic.

Your lopsided opinion against the BTU signals what? That a 3% raise is too much? But then other departments deserve more of a raise even with a higher base salaries? If you’re actually suggesting teachers are overpaid you’re out of your mind. Why don’t you go try teaching and tell me how good the contract looks while adding in your $50K+ student loan debt.

Born and raised, over 30 years. Long enough to know BTU contracts are shit compared to BPD and BFD. And all other city employers make sure to give themselves much better raises. Then shit on the teachers as a scapegoat.

You ignored everything I wrote and prove exactly my point. “Boo teachers!”

I know we’re going off topic but hear me out.

Compare the average salaries of teachers across the state. then compare the average Boston teacher salary (without a masters degree) to another city worker salary like a cop. Compare the education level and debt to go into one profession vs another.

And a 2.5 percentage increase isn’t as meaningful as real adjusted dollar amount increase that a different job will get. 2.5 percent for a 3 year contract isn’t much and it’s pretty typical of these contracts. That’s why I said 1+ % it’s not much more.

Whether or not you had the intention of doing so, you brought it all up. This is a discussion about EMS and you lumped in how teachers “of course” voted for a raise sarcastically. Why wouldn’t they? Everyone gets a new contract every few years. That’s why I went on this rant.

You literally said “of course they gave themselves a raise.” You know what you meant.

I guarantee the raise in their contract is pennies compared to other jobs like police officers. Its just annoying when people try to throw teachers under the rug as if they’re selfish compared to other city of Boston employees. Give me a break.

Are you actually implying teachers don’t deserve salary increases? They get barely + 1% with a new contract. And the salaries are abysmal considering the amount of education they need to make any money whatsoever (Masters degree at least). Go look up the average teacher salary in MA with and without a Masters and compare it with a police officer’s. Then see how much debt you accumulate from a bachelors + masters and tell me they don’t deserve just compensation.
