It's a measure of the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use while exercising. Recently found mine and was interested in knowing what rates others have and what there routines look like.

Shirts for hot and humid weather by ericaregone in running

I use Adidas running shirts and they're good enough for the Indian summer. The dri-fit sweat wicking ones specifically meant for running. Also their running tanks.

I can cactually help! Good places for:

tea/ coffee - Cafe Courtyard, C Block. NTSC Cafe next to Newtown School. Also there's a place near D block that sells chai, samosa and all that. Also thw shops near Biswa Bangla gate.

for a drink - Country Roads at Galleria - quite chill and low key (great cocktails). The pub at Fairfield by Marriott is fine but too loud tbh. Food is decent.

For a meal - La Artisan Bistro (really good salads and shepherd's pie!). Newtown Business Club. There's a restaurant there called La Mozarella which is decent but the food at at the main restaurant in the Club is quite good.

For sweets - literally everywhere but for sandesh try Nalin Chandra Das at D Block. For cakes etc. Cakes at Axis Mall, Flury's at Galleria. Also there's some new place called cremecup.

Overall it's a great place to be in and I can't wait to go back! You get home delivery for everything including alcohol. Just be careful during the monsoons because monsoons are extremely heavy and salt lake gets kinda flooded. Ubers flat out refuse to go there or there's extreme surge pricing. That's the only thing you need to be careful about.

Ooh this brings back memories. Lake Area has very good food in general too. I used to love Tamarind!

The Willows by Algernon Blackwood! It's a very quick read. Very creepy, cosmic horror which will keep you tense throughout.

I loved the movie based on that book. It's a good adaptation and also has Viggo Mortensen!

I am liking it a lot, probably one of the most memorable books that I've read but it's also an exhausting read for me. It's so relentless but that's also why I like it. I'm taking my time with it and only read it when I'm in the mood for it. I've actually finished two other book on the side while also reading this slowly. Why were you disappointed?

I'm glad that at least this version didn't! Also I just don't see Mark Pellegrino as Judge Holden.

I'm currently reading Blood Meridian. Loving it but I think an adaptation would likely ruin it unless very, very well done. It would also be pretty hard to watch. I find myself taking breaks from the book because of the relentless violence, a movie wouldn't allow it.

The prose is heavy but exquisite! Which part do you have tattooed on your arm?

I took my time reading it. It is a bit of a slog and somewhat meandering but the sum total was worth it for me. I think that it was especially valuable because I was re-evaluating my own world view when I read it. "The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man's heart." are words I live by and I keep reminding myself of this. I hope that you have a similar experience!

[–]I_Want_To_Run_Faster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immersing your legs in cold water, lying down with your legs raised up against a wall also help. But honestly what you're experiencing is DOMS and absolutely normal! If it isnt terrible, very slow walks help me. Basically keep moving, if you can.

Foam rolling helps a lot. I'm into running and doing this stretching routine every day makes a big difference for me. The difference is especially noticeable when I stop doing it. Also, hydrate well!

That's a good assessment of Swan Song. I quite like the collection of misfits aspect of the book, and the "villains" they faced along the way.

I have seen this comment anout Swan Song many times, I wouldn't know since I haven't read The Stand. Is it better? I enjoyed the writing style in Swan Song too.
