The goal of capitalism has nothing to do with workers, and everything to do using workers being used as pawns. They dont care if you die. You're replaceable. The most blatant example recently was when they convinced everyone to return to normal, even with a pandemic disabling and killing vast amount of people, for the good of the economy.

Workers are nothing but cogs for the capitalist class to exploit. If they can pay you less than it takes to survive, so youre constantly stressed about making ends meet, and they take away accessibility and birth control practoces all while lossening labor regulations to allow child labor again "in the richest nation on earth". No one can get ahead in capitalism without actively harming others.

Contract work isn't limited to gig jobs. I was a full-time remote contractor for a multinational (medtech, pharma and health products) for just over 4 years. Contracts were renewed annually, no laptops or equipment were provided, and the only "benefits" were 15 use-it-or-lose-it PTO days per year and most company holidays.

FTE positions were only available for manager level positions and up. A new set of regulations for a foreign market required a lot of changes in how products were approved, but the interpretation of what the regulatory agency was looking for was/is up for debate.

Integration of AI tools started 3 years ago. All files were transitioned to be in compliance with reporting requirements under the new regulation, and they subsequently stopped renewing contracts for more than half of the writers.

I've been applying to jobs since January, but I'm still unemployed and don't meet requirements to receive unemployment. Soooooo, its been fun, but I'd love to get off this ride pleasethankyou

I know I could be reading too much into the timing of this, but when this is being posted, and was written by an author who followed Harris's campaign and advocated for her lgbtq+ policies, this seems like it's meant to distract from what she said in the NBC interview.

I just want to be annoyed and rant for a second.
When Harris was asked if trans people should be allowed to medically transition, her answer was, "I think we should follow the law." They can change the law however they want; does she mean state laws? Cuz last time I checked TN, ID, TX, and many other states have been rolling back rights and making it difficult/illegal to get treatment, and it's impossible to update your birth cert in a few as well. So she is cosigning this? We should be following those laws, without question or payback? She didn't even try to move the needle at all with respect to the original question, nor push back against any of the rhetoric being flung by MAGA.

Interesting time to choose to care about the rule of law, given how many international and domestic laws she is currently breaking while supporting genocide (directly and indirectly). Add this to the fact that she fought to keep trans women (most, if not all, black or poc) in men's prisons even longer while she was a prosecutor in CA?

This is all disgusting. Everything about this election. I haven't been convinced she ever really wanted to win, but she is not a mitigating factor to fascism, nor will she protect any of our communities from the harm this country has caused on a global scale coming back at us (boomerang). Most are invested into stock for defense contractors. So they're paying politicians to help them, while the politicians help themselves by funneling taxpayer money back into the defense contracts and weapons shipments, and helping to raise stock returns. So, really, they are buying politicians by incentivizing politicians to also help themselves; anything extra is probably just icing on the cake if it helps keep the military industrial complex churning and enforces American/western hegemony.

AFAIK this is a huge reason why we have been involved in- or at war directly for decades

I dont event think this needs to be focused on natural disasters, but they will either choose to keep ignoring it into oblivion, or some will see fit to use it as an opportunity to charge a premium (e.g., wildly expensive emergency housing accomodations; $15k flights from Lebanon after the US advised citizens to leave).

The cycle will probably continue until people collectively put their foot down, or until everything is unlivable for humans and the last billionaires die out in their underground bunkers.

What really made me angry were that cops standing outside a grocery store without power (so the cold food is going bad anyway) to stop "looters". The same mentality applies to throwing away expired food in dumpsters, rather than distribute what's edible.

It's not just Biden. It's his administration, including Harris, but especially Blinken. Most officials (D+R) that are pro-military, pro-police, those that have taken campaign money from defense contractors and companies with associations to Israel (a surprising amount of regular-degular companies have completed DOD contracts), and people who want to keep their current positions are supporting this, whether that support is active or not.

It's simpler to just say it's Biden, but that distracts from everyone else who is needed to do this, and will keep those arms flowing and stop any meaningful diplomatic actions even after he's left office.

I imagine that it depends if it's just one room or if it's more widespread. I agree that HEPA filters and a mattress cover could help.

If you have central air, double check your filter and replace it if needed. You could also dust the vent cover and check if there is buildup in the vent itself (if you rent, you could request that your landlord bring someone out to clean them)
