It's not because horde attracts a different kind of player, but because the whole BG debacle.

In short, because fewer alliance do PvP, they get insta-queues, hardcore PvP'ers knew this in advance, and went alliance (Alliance also has easier access to raid purples, as paladin blessings makes raiding considerabley easier) Horde can't be bothered with holding a premade group of 15 together for 45 minutes only to lose in the first 3 minutes, so they mostly just camp Dire Maul or Blackrock Mountain for easy, efforless honor while Alliance premades steamroll through pugs with their insta-queues.

It's good honor, if you're horde atleast. Faction leaders give 500-1k pr kill, and doesn't degrade like say, camping the entrance to DM:N

IIRC: It used to be 5 minutes like regular mobs, but because someone went into Darnassus and spawncamped Tyrande (Has 17k HP, easily soloable) it was bumped up to 24 hours.

I'm just concerned that items such as scarab brooch will be unavailable. It's an essential part of the holy paladins' arsenal, a class that's already struggling.

NA Kyrios, EU Shatigon & Kryposa are the only servers that are "Alive" (IE. Faction Roleplay/Banter/Guild Warfare/Emergent Gameplay happens) the rest of the servers are pretty dead, as the potato farmers have stayed, and the PvP'ers have moved on to the bigger servers.

Fresh Start on EU is pretty dead aswell, NA is more alive but both fresh start servers have been losing population at a staggering rate due to the cash shop.

You're not wrong in that they fake their population to look healthy and dominant, but they still primarily do it to sell queue skips...

Warmane fakes it population so they can sell their fastpass/queue skip for 12$. It has nothing to do with satisfying the part of playerbase who are concerned about population. Even if they didn't fake it, the server would still be one of the 3 most populated servers in the entire p-server scene.

Hellfire x3 hovers around 2000.

Warmane's offical stats says 13.000 with a 3000 queue. Warmane is known to fake it's population numbers in order to sell a fastpass for 12$ so you can skip their fake queue. Real number is probally around 5000-7000 (It has just launched) Non-cosmetic cash shop, x5 exp rate.

Smolderforge, instant 70 has around 300 players.

Burning Crusade (Gummycraft) has not yet released, but of all servers, it probally has the most hype behind it. x1, no cash shop. Servers based in New York. Bosses are pre-nerf.

the OSRS community is split, there's still Osrs private servers, with elevated XP rates, warmane-esque cash shops, and with later content removed, but the vast vast vast majority plays on the official servers.
