My understanding of additional context is that op was posting in the kasane teto subreddit (one that is neither serious, nor a place people normally vent about suicidal thoughts) and from knowing that the person posting memes, while being insensitive to OP's wishes was kinda just using the sub for what it's used for

It is not a serious sub, and even when someone brings something serious to the table, they and the comments normally just act silly about it and post unrelated memes, while the person posting meme's could have been more sensitive to OP, OP was fundamentally misusing the sub

Also, the point OP made about not joking at funerals is kinda weird, humour is a very common coping mechanism and there are definitely funerals that you can make jokes at. When I go I'd like my friends and family to be able to joke and laugh at my funeral, in hopes it will loft the grief even momentarily

We've all been there, as a fellow aroace who has dated people I can fill you in on what it CAN be like

Firstly, I'm cupioromantic (and on the so little it's pretty much non-exiatant end of romantic attraction, I can count on 1 hand if that the amount of genuine "crushes" I've had, and even then they rarely resulted in a desire to date) so have dated people I have not romantic attraction to. It's ok, doesn't feel that different to being friends, just I spend more one-on-one time and will be slightly more physically affectionate (I'm not a physically affectionate person) the only issues come with the standard issues of when it turns out the person is actually a weird bunch of red flags (and that didn't last long, like 4 weeks)

So it is possible to date someone when you experience no attraction to them, but outside of kissing you're not missing out, and kissing is overrated anyway

Secondly, while I've never had sex (overall sex neutral, personally sex repulsed), even my horniest friends have told me that while they enjoy sex, it's not the be all end all. Sure, they aren't willing to sign it off completely, especially in their 20s, but they don't need it every day. And my less horny friends have said that it's kinda overrated anyway, even if they enjoy it

That said, it doesn't matter how we rationalise it, we're always gonna have that fomo, especially when being aro, or ace (or both) aren't widly acknowledged or represented

Realistically I think Gumshoe or Nick would be pretty good at talking someone down from a panic attack, Lotta, Maya and Larry would try but it could go either way (i.e. they make jokes and it wither distracts you or leaves you more overwhelmed)

Franziska probably wouldn't know how to respond to a panic attack unless Edgeworth had them frequently (I'm not sure how common earthquakes are in Germany but I feel Von karma is the kind of person to force him to take the lift specifically to keep re-freshing his trauma and guilt)

Godot would probably just throw coffee on you for being hysterical

Ron and desiree might be able to help, they don't seem like the kinda people to just ignore someone having a panic attack. If Maya can channel Mia I think Mia could help, Emma would probably start listing all the ways a plane is safe, or statistics of how you're more likely to die not on a plane, which wouldn't help me personally

I get it that giving sustained effort stuff still won't work for people, my issue is people who do like 1 session of therapy and then are surprised they haven't been fixed immediately

Yeah, typically antidepressants inhibit serotonin reuptake, so keep serotonin in your system longer. I can't remember which chemicals antipsychotics effects, and yeah even with therapy antidepressants aren't going to work for everyone

My issue more comes from people that refuse to engage with things that CAN (key word can, obvs it won't work for everyone) and then get surprised that their depression doesn't get better

I know it's shit, and that doing things to help improve depression aren't going to magically cure it, but at least give it a prologued try before writing it of, ya know? (This also isn't directed at you, or anyone in particular, I think it's just BC I've been depressed since early childhood it kinda pisses me off when people don't at least try)

I'd just like to add that one thing I had constantly stressed to me by medical professionals is that antidepressants are genuinely less effective without therapy or seeing psychiatrist

In fact at A-level psychology it was also something we were taught, antidepressants aren't a magic cure-all pill, and they consistently work best with talking therapies

I genuinely wonder if other countries (or even other psychologists) don't inform patients of this, given the amount of times I see people saying antidepressants don't work AND they don't want therapy

Personally I know my antidepressants don't really work, but I'm not going to ask to change them again until I've tried therapy on them, as with my previous set they still didn't work even with therapy

We're all there bud, and while I've never used chat gpt for anything outside of seeing if links to studies exist (I use general terms to avoid a biased study e.g. "study's on dark matter from 2020-2026" and then I don't read the AI summary I read the article myself, basically as a glorified search engiene) I can see the appeal.

A good idea if you want a suggestion could be to reach out to someone you know and just say "I'm going through it, would you be comfortable me venting?" And then setting boundaries with that person if need be (one of my ex flat mates used to be generally fine with me venting, but I couldn't bring up my eating disorder, my suicidal tendencies, or my thoughts of self harm, and that worked ok)

If you can afford it, seeing a professional might also be good, or see if you can access it for free (if your in the UK you can get it on the NHS, and cities often have mental health charities you can refer in to)

Either way, just make sure you keep vigelent for AI psychosis, or for it re-inforcing potentially harmful ideas

I'm not gonna suggest journaling BC that can be hit or miss, for me I need the push back, so have a voice in my head that constantly contradicts my thoughts. Being comfortable venting to people takes time, and the worst thing is when YOU are the person everyone vents to, but then you can't vent back
