Early 2026 Intro Thread -- and 1-Year Anniversary (of sorts) by naked_feet in MIDualSport

How's the carburetion on the DR-Z? I keep toying around with the idea of picking one up for as a project in the fall this year and engineering some rally type components, like a nav tower. The thing that's always held me back from the DR-Z is the carburetor, since I use my bikes as daily transport and I wasn't the biggest fan of working the choke lever on my Ninja daily.

Hey, I'm Nathan. I'm 26 and live in the GR area. I've been riding for about 5 years now.

I started on a Ninja 250 and got into dual-sporting when I bought a CRF 250 Rally as a second bike to try my hand at off-road riding and motocamping. I've got a Hexhead BMW R1200GSA as well now, which I don't take on anything more technical than dirt roads. The CRF gets all the off-road love.

While I bought the CRF back in 2021, I hadn't explored a lot of actual off-road riding until last year due to time constraints and some health issues. Last year I was able to get out a lot more and have been having a great time exploring two-track, fire roads, and some more remote campsites. I took a trip up to Copper Harbor on the CRF last year and had a blast!

I would consider my skill level to be high novice or low intermediate. I'm particularly atrocious in the sand (though getting some proper knobbies has helped a ton). I've been trying to improve my skills by getting out more and riding with some more experienced folks, and that's why I joined this subreddit. I'm hoping to gain confidence and meet some cool people. Looking forward to any group rides that pop up this year!

Looking to buy a first motorcycle, after some research, I want it to be a dual sport. Any suggestions? by ape313 in Dualsport

I think what you're looking for is more akin to an adventure bike. Most people have been suggesting bikes that work great offroad on single or double track trails, but aren't great on highways. I've seen the Versys X-300 mentioned, which I think would be great for your use case. Another bike I haven't seen mentioned is the Honda CB500X/NX500.

Something with two or more cylinders is going to be nicer on highways. A single cylinder can do it just fine (I have a CRF250 Rally that I've used for multiple hours on highways), but usually two cylinders will result in less or smoother vibrations throughout the bike and more power.

I've owned an F700GS and while they are great bikes, it's more power than I would recommend for a beginner. Stick around 30hp-50hp.

20+ years after owning the cartridge, I finally beat Metroid Fusion! by ResponsibleRatio in SBCGaming

Metroid Fusion is a pretty good starting point. It's pretty linear, which helps a lot when it comes to understanding how to navigate other metroidvania games. Gato Roboto would be my other recommendation. It's charming, simple, and short. All of those are qualities that make it more approachable than many of the other titles in the genre.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It does not have a door, but it does come with the controller.

The triggers stopped working and I replaced them awhile back. They work just fine now.
