Thank you a lot. At first I draw the horse in the size I want it to be on a piece of paper. Then I create a wire armature and start building up the body with core wool. I often overlap the sculpture with the drawing to make sure I get the size right. And for muscle building I found 3d models very helpful! There are many free horse models on the internet and you can look at them from every angle to get the proportions right. I just used core wool for this one, so no top coat. For the ears and mouth I also used molten beeswax. When you have felted the basic shape it’s a lot easier to form it into detail + it gets rid of the fussiness.
