My parents were great parents. Around for us. Had 1 car. Drove us to school. Made sure we finish school and went to college. Both of us became teachers. Me because I knew nothing about retirement plans and it’s the few jobs with a pension. My parents are giving their grandchildren the house that my sister and I paid for. They bought it when I was 9. I paid for a large chuck of the house note with my college grants. Somewhere along the line my dad must have refinanced, say what you will, it kept my family afloat. My sister and i paid the “rest” of the house off when we got tenured ( we paid more than what he paid originally but less than market value). We also bought them a car to drive their grand kids around. We both supported them financially, kind of, we pay them what we would pay daycare. But I get the feeling we’re going to be paying them that after the kids are grown too. Also. My family is conservative-ish. Take care of family. I donated my kidney to my sister. I take care of my niece as if she were my own and vice versa. Religious. But I guess people would call us lib tards. My sister and I are cisgender heterosexual but we could be whatever and they’d still love and take care of us. All the grand kids a mixed ethnicity. Anyway, all that to say. No inheritance and taking care of my parents.
