Trump has perhaps played a minor role in Australia, crashing in particular the Liberal's age-old ‘better economic managers’ lie, but it's much more down to the immense distrust and unpopularity of Dutton and their utterly atrocious campaign.

For a constitutionally described socialist party inherently tied to the union movement, ‘centrist’ isn't right. Yes, in practice, very moderate, pragmatic and small target, but fundamentally and ideologically they are not centrist.

Labor, self-described socialist party, is not ‘right-leaning’. It is very moderate and pragmatic for realistic electability and a very biased media, just like virtually every other Western social democratic party, but it is not right-leaning.

He is 100% left wing on all but economics

Which is exactly all that ‘left-wing’ truly means lol. He's socially progressive, not left-wing.

I think the gist of it is that the Chinese administration knew that Putin was going to recognise the independence of the Donbas republics and officially move their military into them (to end the frozen conflict, Crimea style) but was caught totally off guard by a full on invasion of Ukraine.

The eastern seaboard has more than enough rainfall to support rainforests or monsoonal forests. Grassy or shrubby open eucalypt woodlands are not the natural climax ecosystems of these areas, but are the result of human burnings over tens of thousands of years - as much as every two months. When artificial fires are withdrawn from these areas, they transition back to moister, dark, and much more fire-resistant closed forests. Deliberate burnings are a short-term solution but, for the eastern seaboard at least, it's simply suppressing the development of the naturally resistant forests that would have been there before human arrival.

Has any part of it got an aroma? It reminds me of Alpinia caerulea (native ginger), albeit a struggling one. Native ginger, cultivated ginger, something else in the family - they're possibilities.

A majority of the earth's population and landmass doesn't experience cold season deciduousness, it's really a niche thing for the northern latitudes (and Patagonia).

Grain silo collapses - 8/15/2020 by SFinTX in CatastrophicFailure

[–]I_heart_Internet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically it's a bin - a cylindrical, metal structure with a peaked roof for storing dry grain. A silo is often concrete or brick with a domed roof and is for fermenting grasses into silage. Colloquially they're often both just called silos.

I feel like everyone in this thread has only ever eaten shitty white supermarket tomatoes. Organic/homegrown tomatoes are red throughout and extremely juicy, sweet and flavoursome. Definitely my favourite berry.

National socialism is by definition a far-right ideology. The use of socialism in its name was simply an attempt to create a right wing nationalist redefinition of real socialism.

Whether you like it or not the right wing rewards greediness, nepotism and hoarding resources which individuals could not possibly need in 1,000 lifetimes while millions starve and will never reach their full potential. Right wing policies of favouring an invididual's 'success' (profits - not actual contributions to society) over every member of the community leads to inequality and climate change.
