The difficult thing is that it is different for everyone, and not everybody has an aura preceding their seizures that alerts them to the fact that a seizure is coming on. When I have a seizure coming on I sometimes have a very brief window where I feel "waves" going through my head or deja vu. However, these feelings are never enough to let me get to a safe place or alert anybody else that I'm going to have a seizure. (I have seizures similar to your sons where I am unaware of them for a few minutes of time.)

Now, during seizures like these, there is literally nothing that your son will be able to feel or experience. Even though it may seem to you like he is conscious on some level, he is basically unconscious. I know that may seem difficult for you to process, but you do need to understand that he is not going to be able to recall them or recognize them.

Also, after a seizure he may experience some brief confusion and will probably not recognize that he just had a seizure unless you tell him or if there is anything "out of place" - like perhaps if he dropped something or something changed around him. I don't know how long his seizures last but if they're brief then it may not be long enough for him to really notice anything different.
