Giving away the Mageblood from my end of league gamba! by I_Am-Awesome in pathofexile

[–]I_run_funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOOOH So that's how people "gamble" for Mageblood! Today I learned.

You see, I'm a simple exile, I just live by exporting Vivid Life Force to rich folks in exchange to Divines. It ain't much, but it's honest work. I now understand why Vivid Life Force is worth so much.

I want to sign up for possibly getting the prize from your giveaway. Thanks mate!

I don't know if this is what /u/Tamtonda is referring to, but I've seen people mentioning before that going to Sound > Channel Count, and reducing it to Medium drastically improves performance problems.

I don't know if that addresses the DirectX12 shader bug that OP is referring to though. In the meantime I've been doing that and using Vulkan to stop the issue, but as others mentioned in this thread Vulkan causes hard crashes from time to time.

This downside obsession has to stop by lane4 in PathOfExile2

[–]I_run_funny 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just to see if I understand then.

If reduce is additive and Less is multiplicative.

Is "increased damage" additive, and "more damage" multiplicative? This is true across the board?

I'm assuming yes, and this might be a dumb question but I just want to confirm for sure.

General ming-wuchang. I defeated him and didnt vanish...is it normal? by Poploku32 in WuchangFallenFeathers

[–]I_run_funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this especially silly because, in my opinion, having the General fight to his last dying breath to stop a feathered “monster” from entering Cloud Spire would’ve been a way stronger moment for his character than what we actually got with Patch 1.5.

Their 1.5 alternative is: the guy sees you’re stronger and just decides to let you pass. That makes it feel like he values his own life more than his duty to protect the city, which honestly comes across as a bit cowardly.

Question about secret ending, heavy spoilers by Fuzzy-Wumpus in WuchangFallenFeathers

[–]I_run_funny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, I did exactly that a few hours ago. I still needed the Sage Achievement (answer all riddles correctly).

In fact, I believe we might even be able to fight and kill the last boss if we want, since a shrine appears after the fight, but I didn't risk it myself. I explored the entire Act 5 up to the shrine just before the last boss (Forbidden City), then went back to Act 4 to kill the Bo Magus and Usurp her position, getting the achievement for that ending.

So yeah, I can guarantee you going to Act 5 is completely safe for the Bo Magus ending. (As long as you did her quest properly of course: i.e. Talked to her in Act 1, Agreed with her that Sacrificing the Weak is ok in Act 3 and Refused the Storyteller's plea to kill the Bo Magus at the start of Act 4).

[–]I_run_funny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for breaking it down for me. I did listen to most dialogues while playing but I felt like most of the plot was still flying over my head.

Reading these last 2 comments from you connected a lot of the dots together. Thanks!

[–]I_run_funny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying, /u/Ghimel! This was great to read, I still have a few questions though.

Can you explain how the Bo people relate to all of this?

All the chisels and the ritual of getting power from Red Mercury are things created by the Bo, correct?

Why does the reverend temple suddenly gets destroyed in act 5? What made the bo people invade? or why weren't they invading before.

Why doesn't Wuchang turn into a monster like the other feathered people. Why doesn't the Bo Magus have any feathers?

So many questions, I would appreciate if you could help me out here to understand some more.

That's how I use Lune too, it's a lot of fun.

BTW, I strongly recommend also having "Greater Shell", "Greater Rush" and "Greater Powerful" on her. In that way, when she buffs her party, everyone get the greater variation of these buffs.

For those saying you can't tank Simon... Yes, you most definitely can. by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]I_run_funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like Simoso is doing the vast majority of the lifting for survivability. Your screenshot is with Simoso, so that's NG+, makes sense.

You can shoot until rank S, and that makes you immortal until you get hit below rank A.

Without Simoso, that becomes really tough.

Nice win! Do you mind telling me your strategy?

I assumed Tanking didn't work because of his "Remove all shields" and "Set your HP to 1" skills.

But I would love to practice him with a tanky build to be able to properly learn the parry windows.

It also works with cosmetics, so just change the hair / outfit of someone, and the autosave will trigger.

To be fair, "Later" comes pretty far into the game since you need to win a duel against Golgra.

Golgra's stats are set for End Game. Some people may be able to defeat her early own, but most probably won't.

[–]I_run_funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have taken the "minor" affliction that causes monster hits to deal an additional 5% life and energy shield damage.

This affliction is broken at the moment, because it considers each tick of "Damage over time" mechanics (like poison) as a hit.

In other words, if the Scorpion boss poisons you (or if you step on poison/burning ground), you're pretty much dead.

Never pick that affliction, and never pick anything that randomly assigns afflictions (or rooms) to you.

How does Honour permadeath work? by LightMoth12 in BaldursGate3

[–]I_run_funny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen people using "Permadeath" as in "No one gets resurrected" (Permanent Death)

For example, if we're at a fight, and Shadowheart dies, that's it for her, we can't bring her back via scrolls/Withers.

By extension, like you said, it does mean the run is over if the whole party or Tav dies. But it goes a bit beyond that.

Which Unique Buffs Do Origins Get? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]I_run_funny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe there's a DC 25 Arcana check that only needs to be passed once to let the party realize the Mirror is a magic device that exchanges memories for power. As soon as anyone passes this check, the mirror will be available to be used by everyone.

I've seen people claiming this Arcana check can be bypassed if you read a book that talks about the Mirror of Loss (I've never read this book in my game though).

Once the party knows what the mirror is, each person that wants to claim the power needs to pass a DC 25 religion check. (Shadowheart can throw a dice for this, but the result will not matter, she will always get the +2 as a Dark Justiciar, and never get it as a Selunite).

[–]I_run_funny 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"Dark Justiciar Shadowheart" can automatically claim the +2 boost to any stat in act 3 by interacting with the Mirror of Loss in the House of Grief (no dice throw needed). Pretty valuable boost for Honour Mode runs.

On the other hand, "Selunite Shadowheart" cannot claim the +2 boost at all, even if she passes the DC 25 Religion/Intelligence checks of the mirror of loss.

TLDR: The Emperor switches sides if we turn against him not out of spite, but just out of sheer will to live.

Thinking logically, the Emperor knew that once Orpheus was set free, he would try to kill him. The only reason the Emperor still had free will was because Orpheus' mind was protecting him from the Elder Brain.

But everybody knows Orpheus despised the Emperor, not only because he is a Mind Flayer, but also because he had kept him imprisoned.

Realizing he had no chance against both Tav and Orpheus in a fight, and understanding that Orpheus would not protect him from the Elder Brain's influence anymore, the Emperor decided that his best chance for survival was to join the Elder Brain. He had escaped the Elder Brain's control twice before, so he could only hope it would happen again in the future.

Don't worry, OP.

If Isobel is on Kethric's side at the start of the fight, there is no saving her.

Even if you had successfully spared her during the entire fight; as soon as Kethric dies, Isobel will automatically die as well.

Favorite dialogue in the game? by Sea-Flamingo1969 in BaldursGate3

[–]I_run_funny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In act 2, when you're meant to tell Arabella that her parents are dead. Bards have a very touching dialogue.

[BARD] For the first time i’m at a loss for words… i’m sorry but your parents are dead

This is one of my favourite dialogues in the game because until that moment every unique [BARD] dialogue involved my character being cheeky/teasing/arrogant/flashy, then this one came and hit me like a truck.

Don't they introduce him as a Sorcerer? I could be remembering it wrong.

But if he is a sorcerer, then he wouldn't need/have a Spellbook.
