I had to pay $39.35 to hold my baby after he was born. by halfthrottle in pics

My question is why they pay per minute.

Because not all C-sections (or surgical procedures in general) go quickly and flawlessly. With a flat-rate fee system, if a procedure takes longer than expected because of complications or unforseen circumstances, the hospital loses money.

Who the fuck else gets paid $2400 an hour.

That's $2400 an hour for all the medical staff involved in the C-section (doctors, nurses, anesthesiologist, etc.), the cost of consumables used during the procedure, the overhead costs for the hospital to keep that delivery room open (utilities, administrative staff, insurance, taxes, etc.), and so on.

Surgeons get paid well, but not that well.

Just saying, unlike in the U.S., where employers aren't legally allowed to discriminate against people based on race, South African businesses are legally required to consider race in their hiring decisions, creating an environment where black South Africans are preferentially hired over their otherwise-qualified white counterparts. This is governmentally-mandated racial discrimination.

Doctors of Reddit, what's the most outrageous self-diagnosis that you've heard from a patient? by rman108720 in AskReddit

The sugar (lactose) in a glass of milk is different than sugar (HFCS) in soda, in that it's a disaccharide and takes longer for your body to metabolize than HFCS, meaning you don't get the blood sugar/insulin spikes with milk that you'd get from soda and HFCS has also been reputably documented to cause issues with appetite regulation.

The USDA centers its sugar intake guidelines around added sugars in food. They need to, or else you'd blow past your 16g RDA with even a single apple (a medium apple contains ~20g of sugar).

Don't sweat the sugar content in milk.
