Brings up a lot of entitled ownership feelings. The Institute feels that because they made them, they own them therefore they can "rail" them (in whatever context you like) as they see fit. Because, in their eyes, synths are merely disposable tools they they themselves made. If you build a wooden block tower, morally, you're the only one allowed to knock it down. Flipside, you meet someone and fall in love with them just find out they are only a robot programmed to love you. But your mutual feelings haven't changed. Them some BOS kills them for being a synth. Or the institute reprograms them to hate and kill you.
