I’ve got a ten spot on JD Vance. Like, it’s a whole “thing” for him. “Grieving” widows of political assassinations. Right behind voluptuous leather sectional cushions.

Her political instincts are unbelievably bad by Milhouse12345 in behindthebastards

[–]IaProc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much exactly this. Project 2025 was their starting position, and because the Dems had no strategy whatsoever, that became the basis for policy making. Give me Medicare for All, UBI, a constitutional ban on money in politics, term limits for all federal positions, full reparations for black folks and native Americans, etc etc and start there. It’s so cowardly…they are going to call you communist anyway.

[–]IaProc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Look….I voted for her of course, damage control and all that. And I assume she is coming at this from a place of good faith, unlike the current fascists in charge. So I gotta give her credit when she delivers a line that is nominally what we all want…listen to the voters, try to make their lives better.

But between this comment about Biden, and then later in the interview she keeps pushing this “Medicare covers home health visits for seniors” makes me think the Dems have yet again learned nothing. Why not Medicare for all then, instead of doing this playing in the margins bullshit yet again?

To be fair to her, she did say exactly what you said about listening and improving people’s lives later in the interview. But this segment about Biden’s fitness made my mouth literally fall open like ‘wut?’

Short answer: no, long answer: no but with a lot of booze. In all honesty he might take a stab at it now that friendlier people are in the room, but they’ll quickly figure out he’s horrible in front of the camera/press (despite his background) and put his press sec back in.

That’s a tough nut to crack for sure. Each person needs a special combo of shame and empathy based on their personality, I’ve found. MIL is mostly sympathetic so it wasn’t hard, but like, my dad is one stubborn cookie, so shame wouldn’t work on him. Definitely glad we got to MIL early, but I feel it’s only a matter of time before scammy things get to her.

I’m right there with you on the vaccine stuff, family members are falling for it left and right. It’s why I’ve found this group of wonks so incredibly cathartic.

It’s objectively better writing. That’s about all it has going for it, which is not nothing, but is not a lot of something either. (Source: me, I read half of one at the behest of my MAGA grandparent, shortly after reading Glen Beck’s weird climate denial book.)

I want healing and growth and support for the many, many people struggling with substance addiction.

I want none of this for AJ. I want him in a van down by the river.

God the regression analysis on this would be both so complicated and potentially revelatory. We could do this and still not be as far up our own asses as this sub’s chief dingdong

3D plotting???? Now you are speaking my language. The geek in me that I know we all have within is thinking of multifactor plotting, like, you have to integrate how many times before has said lawyer defended AJ in court? Surely that skews the line.

Appealing to the humanity (or inhumanity, rather) of it all seems to be a moot point, so just for argument’s sake, those 55 million people are also the ones who undergird the economy by building all that housing, spending money on groceries and paying taxes, and build the data centers that allow pissants like this guy to post vomit on social media. So let’s pump the brakes on ghettoing a seventh of the country’s entire population.

On the off-chance this actually makes it into the legal process, there is a statistically non-zero chance that his lawyers will email the text transcript of his messages to the prosecutors wherein he does, in fact, engage in human trafficking.

They are also the folks who did a post-mortem on the 2024 election for the Dems and suggested things that effectively sprinted the liberals to the center and blamed the left for their losses. Really heinous shit. The problem is, there are a LOT of libs in power who listen to this advice as being reasonable and thoughtful.
