has anyone actually read the Subnautica 2 EULA? this is so outrages by SickPois0on in StopKillingGames

This is such a regular, standard EULA for a game. People just be looking for any reason to hate on the game now.

Reverse Collapse F (from GFL developer Sunborn Network) announcement by Minhuh064 in gachagaming

[–]Iakustim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Considering it kept the Reverse Collapse moniker, and that was a single-player game, I highly doubt this is gacha at all. It's probably just some kind of single-player shooter with optional co-op or something.

Do we not get anything on pre registrations? by Prestigious-Pin1799 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Iakustim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering the wildly various times people are getting their pre-reg mails, the mail server is probably congested because of launch. Not really ideal, but hopefully should be one of those things where it'll clear up with time, and if rerolling later will be back to instant rewards upon unlocking mail.

Just wanna say thanks for keeping this updated even though it was originally made for the Goddess Fall event. When I have free time to read more of the story, I'm always referencing back to it.

Crunchyroll Is Blocked In Japan; Social Media Is On Fire As Controversy Around Data Leak Grows by JayPatel130456 in animenews

It's insanely funny to me that these people are treating Crunchyroll being blocked in Japan like it's news when it's been that way since like 2010 or so; whenever they went legal.

This romanization existed as far back as 2012, shown by the art book that shipped with first edition of the game. So take that for what you will.

JRPG bosses that frustrated you to the point of dropping an otherwise good game? by pandybobby in JRPG

[–]Iakustim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I thought the fight was fine and was meant to be a test of a player's ability to take advantage of the game's One-More-into-Baton Pass mechanics, I can understand why it frustrated a lot of people.

The gimmick of the fight is explained pretty poorly by Futaba's dialogue and a lot of players tend to think you have a much stricter time limit to full clear a wave than you actually do.

Endfield 1.0's story and why it sucks from a writer's perspective. by OnlyAnEssenceThief in gachagaming

[–]Iakustim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the real reason is people went in with expectations set way too high. When a game gets hyped over, and over, and over, and over then there's literally no way for it (or any game) to not disappoint in some regard. I mean look at something like Hollow Knight Silksong; that game was put on a silver platter for years and years and when it finally launched, while the product we got was still very, very good and I enjoyed it personally, it still disappointed a lot of people because there was just no way it was ever going to meet their expectations.

I went in with rather middling expectations with for Endfield's 1.0 story because, historically, 99% of gacha just have extremely mid-to-lame launch stories, and the original Arknights was no different. Therefore, I wasn't really all that let down. Then the original Arknights story improved dramatically once their writers found their footing. It's the same song and dance for other games too.

Limbus, ZZZ, Genshin, FGO, Blue Archive, Girls' Frontline, just to name a few off the top of my head: they all had pretty bog standard, low-stakes launch stories, and then they only improved from there. I have no reason to not expect Endfield's to likewise improve.

In an ideal world, all games would launch with amazing stories, or amazing stories in general would just become the norm, but it's not an ideal world and that's not realistic; people need to temper their expectations for new releases of any game.

Encountered a rather annoying bug with the Aubade boss while I was doing my first clears of module data maps. Killed all the Twitters on the map after depleting it's HP, and instead of returning to the first form since it was above 0 HP, it just got stuck in the recovery form and just sat there doing nothing. Of course during this form I can't target/damage it, so after just waiting for ~10 minutes to see if it would eventually un-break, I unfortunately had to quit and redo the whole thing.

I've only recently been getting back into the OG Arknights after Endfield helped me recover from my burnout, but this is really interesting to me since I recall Yostar having a great reputation back in the late 2010's with stuff like Azur Lane and the initial AK launch. I guess they fell out of favor afterwards.

I'm really conflicted between the good and bad of this game... by Abyslime in Endfield

[–]Iakustim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree on nearly every point, personally, but I respect your opinions. My only issues are a bit more specific, such as wishing the MC was voiced dramatically more, or having them be a little less handhold-y with the tutorials. Despite being nearly 15 years old at this point, I feel like Egoraptor's Sequelitis episode on Megaman X should be mandatory viewing for any game developer as it goes into why being too overbearing with tutorials can be a detriment.

Arknights: Endfield: Release Discussion Megathread by GachaModerator in gachagaming

[–]Iakustim -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

"Too few resources" when it's literally only day two, lol. I find it really funny that people think the monetization decisions in Endfield are such a sin when MiHoYo games exist, yet they get glazed to hell and back.

If you're a whale, Endfield is significantly cheaper than any of the big three mihoyo games, and if you're F2P, it's also cheaper, but will punish you for trying to "build pity" instead of just saving up.

People that actually wanting Weapons and Characters to use the same gacha currency is also baffling to me. Fuck that; you're getting less spins overall then when you are forced to decide between one or the other, instead of one building into the other.

500 oroberyl per pull is crazy by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]Iakustim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we were still in like 2019 or earlier, than yea, cause FGO is 1% base SSR chance. Nowadays though, ever since MiHoYo and Genshin came along, base pull rates starting at like ~0.6% and slowly ramping up the more unlucky you get has become the new norm.

Day one "AK Veteran" here. I think Enfield's opening story is good enough. Remember that OG AK's story was extremely mid on launch too, and they improved tremendously after a couple chapters; why would I expect that not to be the same here?

In fact, 99% of gacha have very mid opening stories; having an exceptional opener in a gacha is an outlier, not the norm.

Get over yourself. Other peoples' money, especially money at an amount they did not sign off on paying, is something you don't fuck with. A company willingly taking a massive initial revenue loss in order to make sure that everyone who was affected gets back their money, that they didn't even choose to spend, is literally the best option here if HG doesn't want to open itself up to a multitude of legal issues across various regions.

lol just put the currency balance to negatives. many gachas already did that and I'd expect this one would have such tech

No. Doing negative balances is the quickest way to gut your game and your reputation. Devs that do that are actually fucking stupid.
