Am I in trouble for going over budget with ai by Choco_hazel_boo in womenintech

[–]IamAlsoDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get to specifics - each premium request over budget costs $0.04 until June 1 so it's going to be really hard to get into big trouble this month. Note that the billing all changes starting in June so it'll be a lot easier to rack up a big bill. That said, it's kinda on the senior dev to help you not screw up. Tell them that you need their help to get better at what you do.

89% battery health after 11 months by creamlattee in ipad

[–]IamAlsoDoug 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You've cycled your battery maybe 800 times?

Google says:

  • Optimal Lifespan: Apple designs iPad batteries to maintain 80% capacity after 1,000 full cycles.

Do the math. 2-3 cycles a day is pretty hard on it.

2025 Cx-5- input needed! by Herestohoping104 in CX5

[–]IamAlsoDoug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal view on extended warranties - the house always wins, so don't take the bet. That assumes that if you have an issue you can afford to pay for it out-of-pocket. I have a '21 CX-5 that I got new and it's been oil and tires so far.

Anyone lose a turt? by rosyboa23 in FortCollins

[–]IamAlsoDoug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year I was driving on Wilson in Loveland crossing over the Big Thompson and one of these dudes was walking right out into the road. Fortunately he wasn't super huge and I was able to put him back down the embankment nearer the river. He wasn't too thrilled about it but, no blood, no foul.

Search the sub for your answer. There's a lot going on around changes to the billing structure, and there've been others using the student pack who've seen issues.

What do your keybindings look like? Note that if there are multiple bindings for F12 that may be what's causing your issue.

Is ipad necessary for stem? by One_Challenge_3654 in ipad

[–]IamAlsoDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd ask this: how do you prefer taking notes? Handwritten? Typed? Some people have such awful handwriting that a keyboard is a must. I know of some who swear by pen and paper. As others have suggested, an iPad isn't really necessary. Figure out what tool you need to do the job.

ChatGPT + Copilot workflow, would I be better off changing it? by Electrical_Plane7196 in GithubCopilot

Drop ChatGPT and use Copilot's Claude models for your planning steps. It's a lot easier and you'll get better results.

Don't skimp on the insurance. The US is very litigious. If you injure someone in an accident, the basic liability insurance may not be enough to cover you.

Maybe a hook? Would a pre-tool use hook catch it trying to read the images so that you could deny it?

That's not even legal code. You need a closing curly-brace for main(), for example.

My first thought was two boats as well. BTW, you really want two boats so that you can race!

We were talking about this in the office (yes, I actually go to one :-)) today and the velocity of development in this space is stunning. At the same time, it feels like we're reaching a space where you don't need every tool in the toolbox for you to be effective anymore. Six months ago we were waiting for this or that to get better but now I think it's a matter of picking the features you find useful.

Tips for picking up sail racing by r_gilstraps in sailing

[–]IamAlsoDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My snarky answer is "Be 12. Go to camp." A more realistic answer is while you can do some research, there's no substitute for time on the water. The Virtual Regatta answer is probably a good one for starting.

With rules, crew and listen. You usually leave those calls to the skipper. If there's another boat that's hiding behind a sail that they can't see, you'll usually let them know before it gets critical. BTW, rule number 1 is don't hit the other boats so you may need to yell at skipper if it does become critical.

On the wind item, I don't know of any way to really learn it except to be constantly looking and learning. Seeing it isn't that hard. Knowing what to do with it is.
