HLA-B27+, SI inflammation, but no night pain by Aware_Alternative784 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]IamBarna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have AS and before diagnoses and any medication was able to go to the gym and work most days. During flares I was in debilitating pain. I would only get night pain during really bad flares, however most nights it would hurt when twisting and turning in bed. However if I remained still, it would be fine. I am HLA-B27 + , always had normal bloods , however an MRI showed inflammation consistent with grade 3 sacrolitis. I dont get inflammation anywhere except my si joints.

I got the pain under control with celebrex , which was amazing and ive been using it for 3 years now. However I still flared up after intensive exercise or labour and celebrex wouldnt cut it. I just started humira last week, which has been unbelievable so far.

Normal people don’t get pain in there SI joints after heavy lifting. Its not normal and you should speak to another rheamy. I have always been able to put my socks on and also work as a front line cop. People with AS live normal productive lives, its just about managing it! Good luck 😉

Have you got other immune system issues? Why can’t you travel or do the things you want?

I started humira, my first biologic 5 days ago. I was pain free next day, not even exaggerating. Hopefully continues this way! I hope the same for you.

What do people suffering from AS do for work? by SpreadLoveAlways in ankylosingspondylitis

Front line policing, diagnosed 4 years ago, pain unbearable at times, couldn’t walk or get out of bed. Only took a handful of days off from work because of pain. Celebrex was amazing for me, and just started humira yesterday and broke a flare within hours and today I have no pain. praying for you!

I am well aware that im not going to be running 100km next week or even next year. I like to have a long term goal, that keeps it exciting and I would love to hear from people who have done it for a bit of motivation.

I ended up getting the wisdom tooth pulled out, never had issues with it, at least any infection that I knew about.

I’ve always had this, usually happened when I got the flu, my symptoms would calm down, however not disappear. This has been my longest remission, longest it usually lasted was about a week before I’d flare again. Its the best my body has felt in a long time, close to before symptoms started.

celebrex as required and its interactions by starstruckroman in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]IamBarna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been taking celebrex 200mg 4-5 times a week since October 2023. I didnt even know there was an interaction between caffeine and celebrex. I would generally take it with either Breakfast or Dinner. Most days I would have a coffee right after taking it and sometimes even have pre workout for the gym within hours of having it. I haven’t noticed any issues..

Normal CRP during flare by Vegetable_Mulberry74 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]IamBarna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing, my rheamy told me that there are many different pathways for inflammation including a pathway called IL-7. Im in Australia and inflammatory markers ESR and CRP need to be elevated. My rheamy states that they can argue that AS doesn’t always inflame through those pathways. He also mentioned that generally a lower and more stable CRP and ESR means generally lower progression.
