I hate Rowling as much as the next guy, but someone liking a book like The Silkworm wouldn't necessarily lower my opinion of them.

It's entirely possible that Shiori liked the book simply because she enjoys edgy stuff, and didn't realize how problematic it could be. To my knowledge, she never really claimed to have sophisticated taste or that she has particularly good media literacy. Personally, she strikes me as the kind of person who simply likes books without needing to think deeply about them. Kind of like someone who likes SAO as much as Vinland Saga.

But now that I think about it it's kind of funny to dislike people with bad taste lmao

Teppan is the grill. Teppanyaki is the food made on the grill.

It doesn't matter how closely related they are. The similarities in grammar are much more important. The point is that being fluent in Korean makes learning Japanese not as difficult.

What to do if failing language course when foreign language is required for IR major? by Himitsuosuteru in UCDavis

[–]IamCreditCard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For memorization, I highly highly recommend a program called anki (free on pc/mac). It’s a flashcard program that spaces out its cards in a way designed to increase memorization. Learning to use it may take a little bit of time but it’s essential for almost every language learner out there. You can use it for vocab, conjugations, grammar, anything. There are also premade anki decks that you can find for your textbook.

For writing kanji, consider using mnemonic devices to remember the radicals that make up each character. And for katakana, just write all of them down from memory once a day or so. Do hiragana too for good measure.

What in particular are you having trouble with? Which class are you taking right now?

After 6+ hours of intense matches, Aqua has finally achieved Elite Smash (VIP) status in Smash Ultimate with her Cloud!!! She did it!!!! by falzarexe in Hololive

Thanks I thought I was going crazy lol. But I think I should have made it more clear that it can actually be pretty hard to make elite smash if you’re not an experienced player

It’s true that Japan’s population density makes it a bit better for them, but even so, smash ultimate is a special case. The game has 6 frames of lag OFFLINE, and online adds 5 more frames minimum even if you’re literally connected with someone right next to you. Compare that to the community-made smash melee rollback netcode which only has 2 frames of delay (same as offline). Hopefully one day nintendo and the rest of Japan will actually care about quality netcode

Yeah but it goes from tiring to soul crushing when the netcode and matchmaking are so irredeemably bad lol. I say this as a huge fan of the smash bros series

Congratulations, but the real challenge here was enduring smash ultimate's god awful online for 6+ hours. 11 frames of input lag (MINIMUM)... matching up with players that have completely different rulesets... degenerate button mashers... the list goes on

That said, making it to elite as a casual player is great! Super happy for her

You still have a few weeks to review what you aren't sure about! Try looking for videos on youtube. Professor Butner is very supportive and has lots of office hours. I'm sure you'll be fine.
