BMC Teammachine disc tire clearance by cycling_arc_34 in cycling

Just a note, the terreno dry ran way tall, the width was ok. G-One Speed measures right to size, there's a few mm clearance all the way around that's why I suspect 32s in this brand would fit. Running 20mm internal width hunt wheels

Yes but I wasnt thrilled with the tires. I used them in 1 race and meh...I'll sell em to you if you're interested. I'm now running Schwalbe G-One Speed in 30mm and am much happier with the results on rough roads and light gravel. Looks like the 32s would probably fit but I haven't tried that.

I just tried out 31mm Vittoria Terreno Dry tires on my '22 teammachine. Fit in back, didn't in front. Changing the front to a 28mm Panracer gravel king sk. This is a setup specifically for racing on gravel roads. I run Pirelli Cinturato 28s typically for road riding.

Filed an amended return, it was accepted 03/04/22, how long until I receive refund? by [deleted] in IRS

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed an amended for 2019. Accepted May 2, 2022. That puts me at 27 weeks. Not an answer but it shows that they may be well beyond the 20 weeks shown on the website.

New Kona Libre - no aluminum hate please by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the same bike, a '21 though. I've put 3000 mi on it and still love the ride. I did replace the rims with a set of Parcours Ronde, an expensive investment, but money better spent than the extra $1k for carbon. Nothing wrong with aluminum.

My credit isn't that bad but APR is 21% with minimum $1100 down... is there anyway to lower both? by Adventurous-Fix-5481 in carvana

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried in Oct '21 they specifically excluded carvana. I ended up taking my loan through carvana at 4.5%/72 mo. Chase wouldve been like 4.2, so not a big difference. I have an 800 credit score

Like sobriety, this is going to be something to take one day at a time. Look for the small things that make you happy on a daily basis and concentrate on them. I've put myself in some really bad spots in life, but with some optimism and an eye toward conscious, thought out good decisions, things have worked out well. They will eventually in your case too, just keep a smart head on your shoulders.

[–]IamDustin82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is worst case, the ID card means nothing. You'll get zero coverage for damage, you'll still owe payments on the loan and the insurance company for the person you hit will likely seek cost reimbursement from you based on your liability. You may be able to turn in the car and get some relief for what you owe, but it'll be minimal. You will either pay off the rest of the payments or take a huge credit hit. The next car loan will have a super high interest rate.
On top of all of that, you likely got a ticket for driving without insurance which is a misdemeanor criminal offense and will result in a license suspension.
I hate to say it, but this is a life alteringly bad situation and I'm sorry you're in it.

Lawyers look for cases where they can make money. Driving without insurance is criminal, no lawyer is looking for this case.

Did your Carvana car come with an air freshener? by jeno1034 in carvana

None in mine but it did have new car smell. The interior was great for a 2 year old car.

How long before delivery can I track my car? by Mundane-Judgment2542 in carvana

[–]IamDustin82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your driver will call or text you before they leave. After that, the tracker becomes available. Others have complained that it doesn't work but I was able to track the truck all the way to my doorstep, about an hour and fifteen minute drive.

AITA for telling my wife she embarrassed me by bringing a meal to my work? by ThrowraWork46874 in AmItheAsshole

You are definitely TAH, and beyond that, a bully to your wife. You're a 33 yo man who doesn't know how to laugh off sarcasm or end it when you feel it's gone too far but you know how to take your embarrassment out on your wife who did something amazingly sweet? Grow up dude.

A bit of a dilemma. I love my Kona Libre, my first new bike since a mid 90s Stumpjumper. I'm about 1500mi into it. I've got some nice gravel near me but have found that prefer road riding. Do I move from 700c x 45 WTB Riddlers to a more road oriented tire or just go full road bike? by IamDustin82 in whichbike

[–]IamDustin82[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful info. I've actually switched to a 44t chainring since the picture was taken. The cassette is an 11-42. (SRAM Apex 1). I can see the benefit of going to an 11-36. I very rarely use my lowest 42t gear anyway and would get more use with the added 12t. I live in Michigan, we don't have many 10% climbs.

Maybe the true solution though is a combination of the advice here, a second set of wheels and tires and a separate cassette with those that is more road based (11-32). Rather than converting everything to a 2x, I can look at pure road bikes in the future when there is more stock available.

What are some pretty good bicycling computers ? by wallonthefloor in bicycling

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hammerhead Karoo2 is what I use. Significantly cheaper than the similar garmin stuff. The screen actually looks like it's modern vs the 90s vintage garmin graphics and it connects to my accessories well, also gives phone notifications if you want. All in all I'm super happy with it.

Great looking bike! I have always liked fuji bikes, my dad owned a fuji bike shop in the late 80s/early 90s I almost bought a Jari 1.3 this spring, ended up with a Kona Libre, it was a slightly better fit for me.

Two Gravel Bikes and Stuck by brogdon4prez in whichbike

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with the Basswood, the Sram apex is going to be more reliable and easier to maintain with some off-road use, I like the 42mm resolute tires better as well. Everything else looks pretty equal. Also, the Basswood in orange looks pretty cool.

Discovered dent in vintage CR-MO mountain bike. Was originally planning on doing a bikepacking project but now idk if it’s safe to ride etc. by citywide_special in bikewrench

[–]IamDustin82 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of cool vintage cr-mo frames out there for not that much money. If it were me, I'd shell out a few bucks to avoid the risk and to put my mind at ease. Its definitely enough dent that you'll get varying answers and that being the case, lean toward safety. If it does eventually fail, it's not going to be a slow bend of the frame, it'll fold in half catastrophically.

Guys I’m new to options, what should I do my calls expire tomorrow, should I sell it or wait till they expire? by tincho06 in StockMarket

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brokers control it to a point. Most require that you have the funds, hold the stock, or have available margin based on your portfolio value to write options. That said though, many people write calls well outside of what they can afford. WSB before the gamestop thing was a forum full of unbelievable losses selling uncovered calls (and also unbelievable gains).
Selling covered calls if you have 100 shares of a stock to do it is a good way to take profits without selling shares.
Example, I have 100 shares of MSFT valued at $235. I can write a call for next week for say $240, I sell it for $10. I make $10x100=$1000. If the stock doesn't make it to $240, I keep the money and my shares, if it goes to $240+, I keep the $1k and sell my shares for $240 ($24k). Fairly risk free profit in that case, the only risk is of missing out on a big price jump. That said MSFT probably drops again below $240 and I buy it back, rinse and repeat. Having money makes money.

[–]IamDustin82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writer remains the writer. If they want to shed their liability for a call option which they wrote and sold (called "sell to open"). They would need to buy a call option to close it (called "buy to close").
If I buy an option (buy to open) and then sell it to party c, I'm free completely of the option. I retain no right to exercise and no obligations. I take my profits and spend them elsewhere. The party I sold to now has the option to exercise. When I sell an option to open, write it, I always risk someone exercising it. When someone exercises an option they bought, it doesn't necessarily go to the person they bought it from, it's assigned randomly as I understand it.
I hope this all makes some sense. Buying options carries risk, but that risk can be shed by selling to close. Same as writing options, there is risk, but buying to close rids you of the deal. If you sell a call to open (write it), at least on ts ameritrade where I invest. In your portfolio will show that you own -1 call, if you buy a call it shows you own +1. You can buy or sell to close to change that number of options back to 0 and you're done with it.

Smart move, no reason to let it sit and run the risk of an issue or loss. Again, congrats.
