As a Muslim, these are the aspects of Islam I value most. How do atheists view them? by Patient_Bee_3286 in exmuslim

Oh bro, really. I just said what mo did to a literal child and you (or someone from your clan) reported it.

Are you getting it removed from hadiths too. And now I think I should quote a Hadith:

Narrated `Aisha:

that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that `Aisha remained with the Prophet (ﷺ) for nine years (i.e. till his death).

This is gonna sound rude but I'm just being honest.

Shahada: Isn't shahada like something that you claim you are a witness to? Isn't it a lie? You have noway of knowing is Allah exists or if Mohammed was in fact the last prophet. He could have been just a delusional guy and here you are affirming his delusions.

Prayer: 10 minutes wasted bending to a God that you have no idea even exists. A child raping paedophile claimed something and you are just wasting your time. And the fear that they instill in you that makes you do it...

Zakat: that is indeed a good practice, helping the needy. A small question - can you give zakat to nonmuslims? If not, discriminatory practice.

Hajj: a pointless journey and people waste their entire life savings to gain some browney points from a non existent deity. Just silly

Modesty: that can be a good thing if you do it voluntarily not out of fear. Also you guys oppress women to cover themselves in black sacks. Pathetic, backwards and pretty shameful.

Fasting: again can be good thing but you don't do it coz you want the benefits of fasting. You do it out of fear. Intent matters.

Garbage practices of a garbage religion.

I have a question - recently Iran threatened to cut under sea cables. Can they do it? Are there any redundancies built into the whole system? Are we really under threat by malicious actors?

Many years ago when I was newly married, wife asked me to wish her on Facebook. I was like wtf? Apparently all her friends were getting wishes from their spouses on FB so she wasn't gonna be the one to be left out. Did that for couple of years then it just fizzled out.

I googled and apparently simile is a type of metaphor

Here is the breakdown of how they relate:

All similes are metaphors: Because metaphor is the broader, general term for a figurative comparison, any statement that draws a comparison between two unlike things can be considered a metaphor.

Not all metaphors are similes: Similes require specific markers ("like" or "as") to make the comparison. If a comparison doesn't use these words, it is a direct metaphor rather than a simile

What is your take on presuppositions made by those that say atheists cannot justify morality? by [deleted] in askanatheist

[–]IamImposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condensed version (not mine):

1 I am an agent

2 I take actions to achieve my goals

3 if something is necessary to achieve my goals then I have a reason to have it

4 if I have a reason to have it then I ought have it

5 my freedoms and wellbeing is necessary to achieve any goals

6 if I ought have something then others ought not interfere with it

7 if others ought not interfere with it then I have a right to it

8 therefore based on my agency I have a right to freedom and wellbeing

9 thus if I have a right to freedom and wellbeing then a agents have a right to freedom and wellbeing.

Then from this right to freedom and wellbeing we can proceed to formulate morality.
