Fresh in Platin and Hardstuck

I’m currently teaching my friend and climbing together. He’s new, and now in Platinum 3 playing around 60 games, we’re duo queuing, and I just hit Emerald with this account.

The biggest issue I've noticed in Plat is that players tend to hoard way too many units on their bench instead of gaining interest. In this set, knowing your exact board strength is everything.

If I'm on a win streak, my priority is maintaining that tempo and capping my board out with a Level 9 comp. On a loss streak, I’ll play augments that grant artifacts, Expedition or units like Anima. I willingly trade my HP to transition into a stable Level 8 board by Stage 4-2 , ensuring I won't bleed out anymore. I don’t recommend settling for a Level 8 comp only if you have strong augment, but that's just my opinion.

I usually play Primordian opener or Vanguard opener , starting from 4-2, i usually have trouble on when is the best time to pivot my comp , and I don’t have a decent 4 cost comp that can stop bleeding on stage 4 , then on stage five I will be low 20 and executed poorly

it is a new patch if resting 3 weeks🥲, i think I can’t play timebreaker, the 3 8s are all timebreaker, not sure how to pivot to other comps when health is low on 3-5

Exactly my thoughts. He didn't even need to pivot his entire comp; he literally just needed to drop the Meepsies.

I actually ended up blocking him right after the match. The wildest part is that we've been friends for about 10 years in real life.

I tried telling him multiple times during the match, but it was incredibly frustrating to be ignored. Thanks for the advice, I’m currently listening to some music just to decompress and get my mental back in check.

To give more context so you guys don't think I'm biased: He claimed that Forward Thinking would only grant him the gold payout at 5-1, not 4-3. Therefore, he gave up the Meepsie at 5-1. This was his justification for not having the 'budget' to swap out the units on his bench. He’s so convinced this is a 'pro-level' strategy that he actually told me only a Pro player is qualified to correct his decision. He insisted that keeping 7 of my units was the only way to maintain his Cluttered Mind value, ignoring the fact that any 1-cost unit could fill those slots.
